Daniel Penny is an ex-Marine, he stepped in when a man was threatening other passengers. The other guy died while in police custody I understand....not while Daniel Penny was restraining him. But Daniel is on trial.

Millions have been raised for Daniel's defense.

Our society is punishing Good Samaritans. This explains the many stories of terrible things happening while bystanders look on. Decades ago, I read stories of why doctors stuck in traffic from a horrible accident do not help. They get sued for not providing a standard of care AS IF they were at the ER with all the equipment available there. Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.

Actually here on the West Coast, we seldom hear about these stories from the East Coast. I happened across it on YouTube.

I saw recently that two separate European tourists were attacked in NYC, so it is dangerous there.

Years ago there was the famous Subway Vigilante case. Some hoodlums appeared threatening to a man on the NYC subway. He shot them and got put on trial.

He had also been physically attacked earlier in his life by three hoodlums. That's when he bought a gun.

On the other thread I mentioned about how suing people reached our shores, and this is obviously a consequences of this in the US. It’s crazy isn’t it, I do not know if someone would be sued over here for helping out if they were first on the scene of an accident, but we aren’t far off of that happening.

Update. The most serious charge of manslaughter has been dismissed....jury was deadlocked. This would have been fifteen years in prison.

However, they are still deliberating a lesser charge which could carry four years of prison.

the same thing on the religious level is being done .
More and more now even fear to correct members in sin due to the outlashes from their own church leaders .
