The problem with that hypothesis is, a weaponized virus would have a much harder bite and a much more rapid onset than this one. A good biological agent is both quickly debilitating, and self-limiting. This one is neither.

The rest of the story has not been told or seen yet. I would not close this case so hastily and draw this conclusion. Give it some time...it may surprise especially if this virus can behave as a HIV type virus....that can hide for a time....then reappear, or mutate many, many times to survive.

Which makes it unsuitable for a weaponized virus. You want such a weapon to quickly spread and debilitate a large number of people, then go away.
This isn't that kind of pathogen.

Do you trust the media? They are caught in lies constantly.
You say the media is caught in lies all the time. Does your saying so make it so? I remind you if a news outlet gets caught in enough lies, it can go out of business. It's their business at stake.

Do I trust the media? More than I trust Trump. Trump supporters seem to have the motto, "Let Trump be true and every man a liar."

Perhaps you missed my previous post:

TDS. More debilitating than any virus known to mankind.

I did not miss it. I responded to it. Duh! Trump is losing his marbles, and it looks to me as if many of his supporters are too.

Me? I'm praying he resigns and lets Mike Pence take over. He's not my hero, but I think he's mostly sane.

Just this past Sunday they got caught in a lie and Trump brought proof to the podium. But yeah, the media is so trustworthy....

Not a large enough sample size for mortality rate on COVID 19

The actual death rate is 2% to 3% by case reported. I mentioned that it's probably a little less than two, figuring in asymptomatic cases of infection. That's over ten times the influenza death rate.

Yes, there's more influenza out there for the time being, which is why I got a flu immunization. But the likelihood is, a third to two-thirds of Americans are going to get infected by Covid-19 in the long run. So I want the odds in my favor as much as possible. A slower progress of the disease means medical facilities won't be overwhelmed, and that's a good thing.

So use your head, go with the odds, and act sensibly.

Two flaws there:
1. You're raising suspicion, by not providing facts.
2. To argue that some reporter gets it wrong sometimes, really has not bearing on the fact that Trump lies constantly. Even his supporters admit it.

Which is why Americans don't trust Trump on the coronavirus outbreak; he's lied to us too often and to blatantly for any reasonable person to put any trust in him.

Watch the press briefing on Sunday. The news media, multiple outlets not just one, had reported Trump lied about Google making a website regarding COVID-19. On Sunday, he held up a print out of tweets from Google substantiating his statement and then said the media should work to provide truth and not fake news.

Donald Trump is rumored to be suffering from dementia and cognitive decline for years. But speculations became even rifer after the POTUS made some statements about the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

Political Flare journalist Jason Miciak compiled the president’s coronavirus quotes that are reportedly indicative of his mental health struggles.

On March 10, the POTUS talked about the briefing that he received on every contingency imaginable.

“Many contingencies. A lot of positive. Different numbers, all different numbers, very large numbers, and some small numbers too,” he said.

“To this point, and because we have had a very strong border policy, we have had 40 deaths related to coronavirus. If we had weak or open borders, that number would be many times higher!” he said.

The journalist uploaded a video of Trump where gave an update regarding the coronavirus at a press conference. The POTUS seemed glum while giving an update to the nation. It was also evident that Trump had a hard time reading the teleprompter.

At times when he couldn’t pronounce certain words properly, the POTUS would slow down a bit and try to enunciate his words. Since dementia is characterized by a decline in memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking skills, netizens couldn’t help but believe that Trump is suffering from the condition.
Donald Trump Coronavirus Quotes: POTUS Sparks Dementia, Cognitive Decline Rumors With Recent Statements

This is a guy who managed to graduate from a fairly selective university when he was young. Something's wrong. Whether you call it dementia, Trump Derangement Syndrome or whatever, it's a major concern.

“Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves. We will be backing you, but try getting it yourselves. Point of sales, much better, much more direct if you can get it yourself.”

That's the bad stuff? Seriously?

They quoted him accurately, but didn't include the entire statement. If Trump was that honest, the American people would still trust him.

Americans have little trust in the information they are hearing from President Trump about the novel coronavirus, and their confidence in the federal government's response to it is declining sharply, according to a new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll.

Just 46% of Americans now say the federal government is doing enough to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, down from 61% in February.

Just 37% of Americans now say they had a good amount or a great deal of trust in what they're hearing from the president, while 60% say they had not very much or no trust at all in what he's saying.

So you are excusing what they did?

I'm showing you that it's inconsistent to be overwrought about something like that, and overlook Donald Trump's many, many outright lies. He said what they said he did; including more of the statement would only have clarified his rationalization for it. Trump repeatedly lies about what other people say and do.

Yes, part of it is likely due to his increasing confusion over things going on around him. The presidency has not been good for him; as his friend Howard Stern predicted, it has taken a toll on him. But sometimes, he clearly does know he's lying.

Examples on request.
