Composting in a Tumbler in Winter

Just taking a shot if anyone can help me because I can't find a lot of information online. We plan on starting a victory garden next year so we're trying to start with small things now.

We have a new compost tumbler, and I understand to switch sides once one starts breaking down. I've used a compost maybe 18 years ago.

But what I'm not finding out is if should I keep the tumbler outside or in the sunroom during winter.

Can anyone help me lol

Thanks, so do I. Right now it's sitting in the cold and I'm worried it won't break down.

I'm a little uncomfortable bringing it inside. My cat caught a mouse the other day and I don't want to attract more. She might, though.

I see what you mean now about the cold weather preserving the foods for composting.

Nice you have a kitty. My last cat, Miss Kitty, died in February....old age, 15.

You might need to wait till after winter fluffy.
Taking it inside is kinda out of the question and if it's that cold outside it probably wont decompose quickly if at all.

I'd just throw my scraps in there anyway and hope for the best. The other option would be to ask a local garden centre or gardeners. My guess is that you'll find someone willing to give you all the hot poo.

It's just for paper, garden waste, egg shells, veggie scraps, coffee grounds, and tea bags, etc.

I decided I'm going to have my son help me move it into our indoor garden/sun room. It stays warm enough for the plants. Surprisingly.

Back during the war, I think it started in WW1, anyone who had room was encouraged to grow a garden to conserve food for the soldiers and provide their community.

So if you had about X amount of space (revised because I was half asleep) you could grow enough food for about five people with these little rows of peas, turnips, tomatoes, radishes, cabbage, lettuce, etc.
