Is that what Protestants think?twinc said:no different it seems - according to Protestants He was sin from His mother's womb - He was a jew and just like Nicodemus needed to be born again as a Christian via water and spirit which He was[Matt 3:16-17] - twinc

I think it is a different baptism because we are baptized into his death. I read somewhere that Jesus' water baptism was a necessary ritual for his preasthood to be legitimate.
It doesn't answer the question of why that baptism was necessary to fulfill all righteousness. It couldn't be the washing away of sin, because he never sinned. So what was Jesus lacking when he went into the water?twinc said:why not just consider Matt. 3:16-17 or could it just be that like those of His day some see or hear nothing and some only noise - twinc

There must not be consensus on this doctrine among the protestant denominations. I believe Jesus became sin for us on the cross, and not before.twinc said:Jesus never sinned but He was made sin for us and Protestants believe that just like us being fully human He was sin from His mother's womb - Jesus was a jew and so like Nicodemus and other jews He had to be born again as a Christian via water and the spirit - twinc

it is suggested that like all other humans one is sin from one's mother's womb - twinc

Protestants don't believe that at all. How could He have been a man "just like us"? He was born of a virgin!twinc said:Jesus was a man just like us who are sin from their mother's womb
some first born men would claim to be born of a virgin - twincHow could He have been a man "just like us"? He was born of a virgin!

I find it illogical that a Catholic can believe in the immaculate conception of Mary yet won't allow us to believe in the immaculate conception of Jesus.
lnseperable - go together like a horse and carriage - twinc
