(lastsecman;15137)
God said in His word that the whole world lies in wickedness, and that we are to keep ourselves from this world, to 'love not the world, neither
the things of the world, for whoever loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.'If we truly apply this, then wouldn't we be very cynical? We can't play computer games, we can't watch movies, we can't listen to music, we can't play sports (because it's from this world) and mus'nt like
any thing that's in this world. Does this mean that the person who can be accepted into heaven are those who are cynical and judgemental? yet God said we should'nt judge others! Is'nt God making things a bit confusing and contradicting?!Which is correct? To view the world as wicked, or to view the world as good?If we view the world as good, then would'nt we be contradicting God's word??Because He said that the whole world lies in wickedness, and only few people are good (if a person doesn't believe in God, it's because God have delusioned them, therefore only Christians are good...)I am confused, and I don't know what is the correct view to hold, practice, and apply. If you say we can play games, we can watch movies, listen to music etc......Then why does'nt the early Christians do that?! The early Christians sold everything they had, if this is not the
only way to enter heaven ('Strife to enter through the strait gate, for wide and broad is the way of destruction, and many be that goes in thereat. For narrow is the gate, and straight is the way that leads to salvation, and few be there that finds it'), why are they doing it?? If you say this only applies to some and not to others, does this mean God have double standards?? In Revelations it said that people's names can be blotted out of the Book of life, what made a person's name to be entered into the Book of life in the first place??? Is it not in believing in Christ's dying? What made the name to be blotted out?? Is it not not living a full Christian??I wrote this to not misguide anyone, I am just quite confused and puzzled. If someone can convince me and help me solve this puzzle, it would be greatly appreciated.

Forgive my stupidity, because I am still searching...P.S. To not make you lose focus...my main question is the viewpoint we need to hold about this world: good, or bad?I guess this comes back to the same never-ending argument again about...of works, or not of works, sorry, apologies.....still my main concern is what viewpoint to hold
When Jesus said the things that you mentioned He was speaking about sin, and a mind set that is contrary to God's way. This world is corrupt from top to bottom, and through and through, so we should have nothing to do with the system that is set up by men, under the influence of Satan. We obey the laws of men, as long as it does not violates God's, but we are not to be part of it. We cannot save or make this world a better place, because that is not what God wants or is doing. The scriptures show that the world will increase in wickedness to the point where if Jesus did not cut the time short, no one would be saved alive. Jesus was not cynical, but He knew the mind of all. Jesus knew that the world is deceived by Satan. He also knew that God has blinded the minds of those who did not believe, because God will show them mercy when He is ready. The truth is that the unsaved, dead or alive are not condemned.....this is a truth that most Christians are unaware of.But to answer your question, yes this world is bad; in fact it is evil, because it is under the influence of Satan. That's the reason why Jesus said He was not off this world, or when He told the disciples, "you are not off this world even as I am not off this world." Sadly many supposedly Christians want to be a part of this world, at the same time as not being of it. As Jesus said, "you cannot serve two masters...."In time, as one allows the Holy Spirit to guide them, they will know what they should avoid and what is ok.
