1) The Bible he's holding in the first place is not defined sola Biblia, but rather by tradition.
2) Assuming he's a decent scholar, his studies including the historical and cultural context for which things were written.
3) Assuming he's a decent Christian, his studies also include prayer and listening to the Holy Ghost.
4) He's also being influenced by other scholars and their perspectives, even if he's not citing them.
5) He's bring his own outside perspective into things.
6) Whenever there is a is a conflict of interoperation, it is resolved via one of the above.
It's not a bad thing to include these! It would be downright irresponsible not too!

Of course it is true that teachers, prophets, pastors etc all have a part to play in our understanding of scripture...however, we must only listen to those who themselves place scripture as the foundation for faith and practice. The Bible still remains the constant...even when it is a prophet expounding on it. The moment that person teaches something contrary to sound doctrine...contrary to the word of God...contrary to the principles and ethics which the scriptures teach, then we have a problem.

I am saying that the Bible was inspired, both old and new testaments, by the Spirit of Jesus. And it is the Spirit that gives power to His word. Without the holy Spirit we cannot understand the scriptures. But the holy Spirit will never contradict scripture. Diversity of belief is not fault of the word of God. Why thriow out that which is consistent in what it teaches. You are correct that man comes to the scriptures and goes away believing different things, but don't blame the scriptures. It is man who is in the wrong, because he didn't trust the holy Spirit but attempted to understand with his own wisdom. Lay the blame on man, not on scripture.
