I've had several cats and thankfully they didn't bother my little tree.

This is good except for the very end where the woman is caroling (teasing) her cat.

My friend taught her cat from a kitten , not to jump on surfaces or play with her Christmas tree, she sprayed it with water,.,.

We had a kitten , Gizmo, and he was adorable at Christmas. He would climb into the middle of the tree and then just peer out from inside - so cute. The sec on year we had him it was the total opposite and I had to tie the tree to the patio doors to stop it from falling over ! Lol
By the third year he wasn’t bothered that much, sadly we lost him at five due to cancer , had to have him put to sleep just before Christmas.

Cats are all different. I had one sweetie that never went on any surfaces except chair, sofa and beds. My other cats would jump on the end tables or cocktail table, dining room table which was allowed as mom and I eat on trays.

They never bothered kitchen surfaces at all. A couple tried but I'd say "no no" and so they wouldn't do it. They are smart.

So sorry to hear about your kitty. It's difficult I know.

I’m thinking about a Rag doll cat, I’ve been researching ..,I was put off, when a guy on YouTube said that poo can stick to their bum..get caught in their fur...solution, shave the anal area..problem solved.

Thank you, it was quite a few years ago but he really connected with my son and helped him at times during his issues with mental health. I wouldn’t get another one as the vets just wanted so much money to help gizmo and I simply didn’t have it , so I won’t put another cat through that particular mind field. How you lot cope in the US I don’t know ( with your health care system )

Not sure if you know this, my friend gets free veterinary care at pdsa..she’s on pension credit.
Her pension is topped up by pension credit, as she has very little savings.
She just makes a voluntary contribution now and again.to the pdsa.

Yes we have PDSA in Brighton, but I am not on pension credit, although my son is on PIP and EsA. At the time I was working and Dan has agoraphobia , so couldn’t get to the vets. Most of the vets trips was down to me - it just left me very skeptical of the whole vets system.
I just don’t think I want the responsibility anymore. We kind of share my daughter’s cat and dog - they both ‘ just pop next door ‘ for visits if the back gate is open. It doesn’t cost me a penny !! lol

Are you only considering a pure breed? Shelter cats can be great. Very affectionate and you can ask about their personality.

I got several of my cats from our little street and they were great cats. Crystal I got when his elderly owner died in my building and the apartment manager was going to throw Crystal out on the street! (Crystal was an indoor cat since a little kitten.)

Miss Kitty was a long hair and poo never stuck to her bum. I think if they have a proper diet, the feces wouldn't stick. Only if they get very soft poo, that might stick.

Miss Kitty...how could someone throw her out? I adopted her at age one....she died this year at fifteen years old.

That's nice you have your daughter's cat and dog.

Since mom died and I am 74, I don't want another cat as when I die, I wouldn't want it to be alone.

Also, one income now, so not having to buy litter and food helps.

@Ritajanice If you get a cat, the scoopable cat litters are very easy. Just scoop out the little clumps of urine balls. No smell either. Just scoop once daily.
