You are on the wrong bus going in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, you will not realize that until it is to late.
You're entitled to your opinion. Thank goodness you are not my judge.
The only Pharisee that showed some interest in Christ was Nikodemus.
Not quite. Simon the Pharisee in Luke 7:36-50 invited Jesus to his own home. And in Acts 15:5, some of the believers belonged to sect of Pharisees.
If I was a Catholic, the 23rd chapter of Matthew would be all that I would need to renounce it.
Well, I AM Catholic. And I HAVE read Matthew 23 a number of times. Reading it doesn't influence me to renounce Catholicism, but it sure makes me think.

Now, being Catholic, does that mean that I do everything the RCC says? Nope. Do I do everything my parish priests says/does? Again, nope. I may be Catholic Robert, but that doesn't mean that I'm some robot. Believe it or not, first and foremost, I consider myself to be Christian. I just happen to like certain aspects of Catholicism.

I like being able to walk into a church and seeing the Crucifix above the altar. It reminds me of why I'm there in the first place. I like seeing a statue of Mary off to the side. It reminds me of the humility she had, in order to accept her fate. Had God chosen *me* instead of Mary, would *I* have been so humble? Would *you* have been as humble as Joseph, her husband?

Sometimes, visual aids can have more of an impact on us than reading a book.
Pharisaism is the only religion in the Bible that resembles Catholicism. In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus said that the way to destruction was broad. It is broad because there are many on the way to hell.
Pharisaism isn't a "religion."

And while Jesus DID say that the way to destruction was broad, as a Catholic, I don't claim to be on the narrow road...because of my Catholicism.

All I can do is HOPE. There is nothing in Catholicism that says, "If you do 'x,y and z' you ABSOLUTELY WILL go to heaven!"

Umm...no.

Jesus in your name and on your behalf, has ALREADY done the X, Y, Z. but you don't believe it. You want to do it yourself. Jesus is our substitute and our representative. God accepts the life, death and the resurrection of Jesus, we are accepted only in him and because of him. Catholics are trying to do in their flesh what God has ALREADY done in Jesus Christ. Like I said before, Jesus didn't come into the world to show you the way. He is the way, John 14:6.

Not if they're smart Catholics and do their research on this song.

First of all, the song was originally written in Latin, and started showing up in Latin manuscripts (to be used during certain celebratory Masses, such as Easter) no later that the 7th century.

Secondly, the only part of the song that's being translated from Latin to English is the last part of the song. So, we don't get the whole context unless we have the translation of the song in it's entirety. Since the whole song is about Jesus/God, what went askew?

The translation.

Thirdly, the song is being translated from Latin. Lucifer in Latin, is translated to mean "morning star.' In the original Latin text, it is NOT capitalized. It is not "Lucifer", but "lucifer." It is not a proper noun, nor are the subtitles a proper translation.

Fourth. In scriptures (the Bible), the "morning star" is ALWAYS a reference to JESUS; not satan.

This is just another example of those who love to (try to) find fault with the Catholic Church.

Sources: Exsultet - Wikipedia

Also, Google translator, Latin to English
No one who knows and loves the Lord and the truth would sing those words in any language. Yes, the devil can come an angel of light (morning star), because he is fallen from that state. Counterfeit, in other words.

Thanks for clearing that up. Yes there is a push to attack the Catholic church ever since the news aired stories of child molestation from Catholic priests. Something you'll probably find in any church.
Those horrendous sins are the FRUIT of that organization, which GOD has been exposing in recent years. People need to wake up and see if the fruit is evil, what kind of tree it is that is producing it. They need to stop being guided by the flesh and judging by emotions and what they see outwardly. Don't they know that the devil is a deceiver? Sly, subtle, clever, and working under cover of darkness.

When you write, "Jesus is the way", what do you even think that means?

I will tell you, but you will not understand because you don't have the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is God's new Adam and our new humanity, Romans 5:12-21. All that Jesus is and all that Jesus did was for our salvation and our justification. We are complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

Jesus never did preach the Gospel, he left that up to the apostles, especially Paul.

LOL! What a cop-out! Do you say the same thing to non-believers? To atheists?

"Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope." 1 Peter 3:15.

So much for practicing what you preach...

Yes, AND, we have a part in our own salvation as well. "...work out your salvation with fear and trembling..."

What a crock. If Jesus didn't preach the Gospel, then what was he preaching during his time spent with the Apostles?

Jesus was a teacher of the Mosiac law. The purpose of the law is to judge and condemn. The law (Religion) does not save, nor does it justify, Romans 3:20. Your hope is not in Christ, your hope is in the Catholic church which is under the judgment of God.

Nope. Jesus expanded on the Mosaic law in order to bring it to fullness (completion). The Law was never supposed to be about "do's and don'ts." Jesus was teaching about the spirit behind the Law. The law unto itself judges and condemns. The spirit does not. The spirit is merciful.

The law (Religion) does not save, nor does it justify, Romans 3:20.
The Law can be summed up in three 'laws': Love God, love your neighbor as yourself...and do unto others.

That's it. In a nutshell. Unfortunately, MOST of us have NO CLUE what it means to "love" God...OR "loving" our neighbor. We tend to separate the two, and latter often takes a distant second to "loving" God.

We love God THROUGH loving our neighbor. JESUS taught that, in so many words.
Your hope is not in Christ, your hope is in the Catholic church which is under the judgment of God.
Oh, pish-posh. My hope IS in Christ.

And *you* have NO IDEA if the Catholic church is under judgment of God. Again, that's your own opinion.

Who the heck are *you* to judge?

Sorry Robert, but your interpretation of Paul's words don't line up what JESUS said.

I also think that when it comes the "law of the bible", you'd better read up on what the Jews did AFTER God gave them the Law. The Jew kept adding to it.

No WONDER why no one could keep the law...much like our own laws here in the US.

Seriously...think about it.

If your hope was in Christ, you would not need the Catholic religion. The Catholic religion is your safety net. You cannot live by faith alone because you cannot trust in Christ alone. Very sad, but that is what you have chosen to do and to believe.

My hope is in Christ, and I do not "need" the Catholic religion. I align with the Catholic religion because it represents my own beliefs about the Bible. I see religion in general as a fellowship; Fellows in Christ within the Catholic/Christian Community...much like the Apostles did after the ascension of Jesus.

I do not live by faith "alone" because it's not a Biblical principle. It's not that I don't trust Christ. I do. 100%.

But I also believe that *I* have a hand in my own salvation as well. My salvation isn't based on faith "alone." If I sin, my salvation isn't guaranteed. I don't think to myself, "Hey, if I give this homeless guy a few bucks, I'll go to heaven!" Yeah. No. God don't work that way...

The reason that salvation is by faith alone is because it is by Christ alone. When you add something to the Gospel like works, obedience and religion then it is no longer the Gospel it is a perverted Gospel, Galatians 1:6. Catholicism is a perversion of the Gospel. Paul said, "As we have said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other Gospel unto you than that you have received, let him be accursed" Galatians 1:9. If you were a true believer in Christ and his Gospel, you would not need the Catholic religion. Your Catholic religion is another God, a false God. There is NOTHING in the Bible about a Church in Rome. Paul said, "The just shall live by faith" Romans 1:17. You are not one of the faith.

A woefully-ignorant statement if there ever was one . . .

Jesus compared His Church to His very SELF (Acts 9:4-5).
The Bible describes the Church as the FULLNESS of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23).

No, it doesn't. The song in its entirety is sung in unison with the lighting of a Paschal candle, during the Easter Vigil. The candle represents the pillar of fire that illuminated the way as the Hebrews were led out of Egypt.

Isaiah 14:12 is part of a satirical poem that talks about the fall of the King of Babylon; not the devil or satan. If the word "Lucifer" is in *your* bible at Is 14:12, then you probably have a (N)KJV...which, is one of few versions that uses the Latin word "Lucifer" in that passage. The original Hebrew word is "heilel" (meaning, "shining one"). The NASB translation is "star of the morning."

The word "lucifer" (or a derivative, thereof) was used 5 times by Jerome when he translated the bible into Latin: It can be found at Isaiah 14:12, Job 11:17, Job 38:32, Psalms 110:3 and 2 Peter 1:19. At no time do ANY of those passages refer to "lucifer" as satan or devil.

No, the priest did not say that. The following are the words (the priest used) in question in Latin:

Flammas eius lúcifer matutínus invéniat:
ille, inquam, lúcifer, qui nescit occásum.
Christus Fílius tuus,
qui, regréssus ab ínferis, humáno géneri serénus illúxit,
et vivit et regnat in sæcula sæculórum.

The anti-Catholic English "translation" is as follows:

Flames of Lucifer finds dawn,
This I say, Lucifer who will never be defeated,
Christ is your son
Who came back from hell, shed his peaceful light
and is alive and reigns in the world without end.

The proper translation is:

May this flame be found still burning
by the Morning Star:
the one Morning Star who never sets.
Christ your Son,
who, coming back from death's domain,
has shed his peaceful light on humanity,
and lives and reigns for ever and ever.

More about this anti-Catholic slur here:
You are aware that Morning Start refers to Lucifer?????

The first reference to the morning star as an individual is in Isaiah 14:12: “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!” (NIV). The KJV and NKJV both translate “morning star” as “Lucifer, son of the morning.” It is clear from the rest of the passage that Isaiah is referring to Satan’s fall from heaven (Luke 10:18). So in this case, the morning star refers to Satan.

And be it Lucifer or even Satan , Christ was never his son.....

This is blasphemous

Fourth. In scriptures (the Bible), the "morning star" is ALWAYS a reference to JESUS; not satan.
Not so. Anciently, Lucifer was also MADE a morning star.

Job 38:
[7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
(Jesus AND Lucifer singing when the foundation of the Earth was being Established.)

Isa 14:
[12] How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
* (Lucifer’s FALL / CAST out from his Estate (Heaven).
* ( Jesus WAS SENT from His Estate (Heaven) to Earth and Returned to Heaven.

The BRIGHT “AND” Morning Star is Jesus.
Rev 22:
[16] I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Lucifer was Created and Made.
Lucifer was in his heavenly estate singing, WHEN God was creating and making this world. Shortly thereafter Lucifer was cast out of heaven FOR believing he could ASSUME and have and control ALL that God was creating and making. ( a LIE)

Jesus was NOT Created…but was Made.
Jesus’ Brightness, Holiness, is Eternal, Forever.

Lucifer…and thereafter…a Serpent, a dragon, a Devil, called Satan, forfeited his holiness for evil, wickedness, lies, trickery.

Glory to God,
Taken

There was no church in Rome. The book of Romans was to believers in Rome, Romans 1:7. Rome was hostile towards Christianity. So, Rome came up with a religion that was compatible with their pagan beliefs and called it Catholicism.

John wrote to the seven churches in Asia, Revelation 1:11. There is no mention anywhere in the Bible of a Church in Rome. The closest thing to a church in Rome is the great whore church, Revelation chapter 17.

Paul said that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, Romans 1:16. Not a church. Catholicism places a lot of importance's on works. Jesus said, "Many will say to me on that day (judgement day) "Lord, Lord, didn't we do many wonderful works" Matthew 7:22. Jesus said, depart from me I never knew you, Matthew 7:23.

Jesus didn't come into the world to show you the way, He is the way, John 14:6.

I have been pondering for days whether or not I should put this on the Forum. I cannot get it off of my mind, so here it is. Google "Catholic priest sings song about Lucifer" and see for yourself. I didn't think much about the song, but when he said that "Jesus was the son of Lucifer" that did it for me. I knew then that I was going to have to say something about this. First there was the Chrislam thing and now the Lucifer song. Maybe there are some Catholics that will come out of Catholicism as the results of the Lucifer song.
The video clip English in “red” hard to read.
