She says they have a huge tax burden of 50% of her paycheck and the care they get is awful, slow, and nobody cares about the patients, nurses screaming. Patients are treated badly. I almost never get a bill, being on Sentara Medicare advantage SNP. Worst thing is I have to pay $185 out of my SS check every month. I see a doctor every 3 months and never get charged. All meds are free. Now if I had something serious, who knows but I also have a pretty low max out of pocket number, might be $3500.

The Canadians I've spoken with are quite satisfied with their healthcare. I wouldn't be in favor of socializing medicine though, because while it may start out well it will become more bureaucratic and quality of care will decline.

You didn't have euthanasia being pushed before the governments of the world started fitting the bill. Also these governments have a financial interest in the heath of their citizens so they could use that to force the citizentry to get the jab, or whatever they come up with that they say is good for you but may not be.

Governments oppose monopolies except when it is their monopoly.

One problem with socialism is that it violates economic law of supply and demand. There is now over a century of lessons where price controls lead to shortages. Sure, in Canada the theoretical cost of health care is low but in practice, it is "delayed" (meaning non-existent when needed) in too many cases.

In my analysis of the American health care system, it is lawyers that are the problem in preventing a la carte health care costs. We cannot get the low or medium cost health care, only the top of the line service. Most of the time this is not needed and naturally costs a premium, a non-value added premium.

For instance, one of my stepdaughters is a midwife nurse. About 1 in 75 pregnancies have complications. Yet, going to a doctor rather than a midwife, everyone has to pay AS IF the pregnancy is complicated. Her value proposition is rare in that she provides the services the specific pregnancy requires. That's her business, working cost effectively with expecting mothers. The rest of the healthcare system needs to embrace a la carte services where you get what you pay for rather than it being that only top of the line services are offered.

Let me give you another example. In the last 5 years I went to the ER twice. Once was for chest pain. A man in his 50's with chest pain is as serious as it gets. I got top priority and may have needed top of the line services. The other time I went, my dogs ripped my finger open with the cable I had put on them, which needed stitches. If I could have bought the topical anesthetic, I could have done the stitches myself. Certainly, I only needed the low cost health care.

As Christians, we are called to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, shelter the stranger, clothe the naked, tend the sick, and visit the imprisoned. At one time, governments only took care of those in power. Inspired and devoted Christians started the first hospitals. Today, many of us support hospitals, clinics, and related charities, directly or indirectly.

The idea of purchasing health insurance was/is to guard against catastrophic illnesses, but we hear some complaining about the expense and wondering why they shouldn’t “break even“ annually.

Delegating governments sole responsibility for health care reenforces an enervating entitled mentality, and undermines Christianity and its message of Love God and Love Your Neighbor.
