Only Jesus casts out demons because only Jesus has any real power over demons. Not us. We pray to be delivered from them.

So we can cast out demons in Jesus name.
I thik that a Spirit filled Christian probably can not be possessed by a demon. However, If the Believer is not walking in the Spirit...then is his house vacant? It might be.
Matthew 12:43-45
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation..../KJV
So if a man who is possessed repents and finds Jesus and gets born again, then the Holy Spirit comes and indweels Him, right? But we are under a blood covenant, and Blood covenants need renewed every day. There are different types of covenants. A Salt Covenant is forever, it's like a frienship covenant. Everybody carried salt back then and each guy would put a pince of salt in a bowl and mix them together and then share the meal dipping the bread in the salt I guess. But a Salt covenant lasts forever. But a blood covenant needs renewed daily. When I was married, I would have died for my Wife. And that covenant was sort of unconsciously renewed every day...when I told her I love her and so forth. But I digress, Scripture says Pick up your Cross Daily. That's what it's talking about, it needs renewed daily. This is morning time when we pray to the Lord and thank Him for the miracle of breath and life foe another day and read His word and get connected with the Holy Spirit and filled with the Spirit and only then do we go about our day! Thank you for being my Lord today Jesus. Will you go to work with me? (Of course He does!) and I would pretty much pray unceasingly to Him because I could not let go of the awareness of His presence with me and forget about Him that He is there! No way. He is the friend that sticks closer than a Brother. (I turned on the radio one tme and He told me to shut it off! I havent turned it back on since, lol)
But anyway, when you are aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit within you then if the bad demon comes back to the man who was possessed, it would not be vacant, and the demon would have to flee. What if He was in a rush this morning though and didnt pray or read? He couldnt feel the presence of the Holy Spirit, so was his house vacant and able to be possessed? I am not sure, but I venture to guess that if the man inadvertantly did something that would open a door for the demon, then maybe it could enter him and possess him?
No one feels the presence of the Holy Spirit all the time. It just doesnt happen much. Only on days where I didnt connect with Him in the morning and renew my portion of that blood covenant by acknowledging Him as my Lord.
I think Christians can be oppressed by demons without possession. In fact, the closer you get to God, the more they come to try to tear you down and instill doubts and entice you to sin.
