For example I once applied to be a volunteer at a local charity shop even though I knew the manager was gay, but I didn't mind because he was a nice friendly chap, but he said "Sorry, I've got all the volunteers I need right now".

I don't believe SCOTUS has any authority to make laws. Period.
Marriage itself is not written into the Constitution.
Congress can make laws. The question should be, will Congress uphold or change the laws they have written?
I understand that whatever is not explicitely written in the Constitution reverts back to the individual States.
Unless and until there is a change to the amendments in the Constitution, which Congress has the power to do.
But it must have 2/3 majority vote in ... both the senate and the house? not sure if both are needed. I believe so.
But the question is on LGBTQ+1234567890 and what explicit rights they have that differ from every other citizen of the land.
This country, like all countries is founded on man's laws. I believe the U.S does it's best to apply sound doctrine and principles to the laws created in the Constitution.
The problem arises when one group of people or ideology tries to usurp the same rights given to all people, and create for themselves a new tier of priveledges.
The fundamental question regarding the law is not whether it is moral or immoral. The question concernng the law is about payments and benefits that such groups believe they are entitled to over others, or should have the same access to as all others.
This is called discimination.
Each state has it's own laws regarding marriage. Age, benefits recieved from the partner of the deceased, who is able to make medical decisions for the espoused partner, divorce litigation, etc.
The question then regarding what genders are permissable to marry under the law, falls to each state and the citizens that reside in those states.
You don't agree with gay marriage? Then elect officials that only will allow heterosexual marriages.
You agree, then elect officials that agree.
The fear of what may happen, I believe, is that more people who would allow gay marriage are afraid they are outnumbered by those who would not. That is why it is so important to make the argument that the U.S is NOT a christian nation.
Because the majority of people who do live in the U.S have a fundamental christian foundation.
Does that mean that being the majority we have the right to deny the minority of their choices?
The Constitution states that all men are created equal, and are endowed by their creator with unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
If we believe that what is written in our Constitution to be true for some, then it must be true for all.
And who determines happiness?
Personally, I'm not gay. I found my happiness in 2 Heterosexual marriages.
What if.... Heterosexual marriages were not allowed by law in the U.S?
What if... Abortion became mandatory law in the U.S?
It's not about the Constitution. It's about who is writing the laws and who we elect to write them.
The other question which should always be taken into account is one of fairness and equality.
If you are a Christian, the bible tells us, that we are not to judge the world and the things it decides to do, because we are not of the world.
And if as a Christian you believe that marriage is sacred between a man and a woman, then don't be gay.
If you believe life begins at conception and abortion on demand is murder, then don't have one.
The Constitution of the United States of America does not give us the right to judge others, but to judge ourselves.
There are laws on the books that when one person causes harm to another person, then the law will judge them.
Pray for good judges and good representatives, that believe in Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness for all.
And when harm is caused that true justice and punishment will be applied with as much grace and mercy as the law allows.
We don't write the laws of the world. We follow God's laws written in our hearts.
Be ye seperate and come out from among them. Be ye not unequally yoked with the world.
Pursue your own life, liberty, and happiness, and let the world do it's thing.

I mean you are aware that republicans have not won a popular vote except for once in the last 30 years. Every year they lose the popular vote and only win because of the electoral college. If the electoral college was done away with, republicans may not ever win again.

It doesn't mean a thing. The electoral college isn't going anywhere, either. It's what makes us a democratic republic. Big money will not allow it. I'm thoroughly apolitical. I just thought I'd chime in. I'll slip into a coma if I hang around here for long. I render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto God that which is God's. I did my 4 years to help smite the dreaded Hun right out of high school and, me and America, we're real good.
When the really awful stuff starts happening (and it's coming), the world is going to become very conservative very quickly.

I wonder if that's because most Democrats live in very heavily populated areas like California and New York.
If we didn't have the electoral vote, then most of the "fly over" states would be ignored simply because of the amount of population in them.
And yet it is these same "fly over" states that produce our food supply, energy supply.. that fuel the populous cities.
Shouldn't those who contribute to the preservation of the country have a right to have a say as to who will represent us all?
I believe that was the intention of the electoral college in the first place.
So no one gets left out due to a majority of population.
This country is supposed to run as a balance. The minority has as much voice as the majority. They should not be silenced because one group is louder than the other.
If you removed the popular vote from California and New York, I wonder which party would hold the majority?
I've always been a Republican. And yet I find that have some what some would call Democratic values.
And I believe we should all be able to find some compromise and live peacably the best we can.
I believe in pro-life, I believe in working for yourself and building up your little acre of land.
I believe in secure borders to keep people that don't have our values out.
I believe in lawful immigration. Everyone has a right to the same opportunity but it has to be legal.
I believe in the right to medical procedures that prevent death. As in the mother's life being in jeaopardy.
I believe that there are times and circumstances when the state and the citizens must help and provide for those who are unable to take care of themselves.
I believe in the death penalty for aggregious crimes against humanity.
I also believe in rehabilitation for those who have lesser crimes and may need a second chance.
I don't believe I am unreasonable.
But there are times when no is no, and yes is yes.
And I won't change my core principles and morals to please the world.

Sounds a bit conspiracy theory-ish. Let’s work through one thing at a time. The first thing I wanted to prove is that the Republican Party is declining. Each year democrats are climbing in the popular vote. Only thing preventing a win every time ls electoral college. But even in many red states, each yeah despite them being predominantly republican, a higher and higher pecs the of democrats are growing. The rate of democrats are outgrowing the rate of republican in many swing states. Doing away with it does not necessarily means ending it with a constitutional amendment. The same effect can happen when they set it up so that the electoral college votes goes with the national popular vote. That’s the
National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. It’s gaining traction. As the democratic parties grow in republican states and continue to push this and more and more states join, especially swing states, it will really move the votes towards popular candidacy which is essentially always democrat.

Sure that’s why it was created. But who really cares. It’s not bad Ed around what the least amount of Americans want. The vote should be based around what the majority of Americans want. Obviously there is a giant climb in democratic votes over the recent justice movement. There is a major focus now by the democrats to also begin using the same tactic and ensure more and more justices are democrats. Just wait until more and more amendments kick in. Regardless of how someone feels. The democrat party is the most popular American party. The democrat party is also the fastest growing American party. Almost everyone with great grandkids are noticing a much more democratic push. In a few decades the republicans may seriously not even be a political party but a fringe minority group that shouts from the sideline.
