It’s our choice to be born again?
Absolutely it is. We need to make a decision to turn our back on our sinful lives, ask forgiveness and give ourselves over to Jesus so He can live in us through his Holy Spirit and make us new - reborn spiritually. From that moment on we are in Christ. It's also described as 'seeing the light'.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

@Red Baker ......what in us needs to be Born Again....the answer I’ve already given, that of what I believe.

Do you believe something in us needs to be Born Again?

If not why not?

Because God’s word says we must be Born of the Spirit?

Rita, pray to tell me why you think your son is not born again if he follows God's word and reads it every night
Is that how God tells us we are Born Again that way...by reading our bible every night, that makes us Born Again does it?

Back up your opinion with scripture please?

I guess you must be a cessationist. But scripture says the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth.
All truth is contained in God's word given us through the apostles and prophets by the direction of the Holy Spirit. There is nothing more that you need to know. God didn't cut the message short so that He would have to add to it when you got here.

(ESV) Eph 1:13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

(NASB) Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

(NIV) Eph 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

The message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, Is the Holy Spirit leading into all truth. You have everything you need there.

And by the way, that says that it is after hearing the message of truth and believing that we were sealed with the Holy Spirit. That is being born again.

Waiting on him

Having a bible and reading it....is not the same thing as understanding what is written there. And then there is the issue of personal direction, instruction, guidance in one's life. As well as walking in the spirit. We need the Holy Spirit, all the time. The Holy Spirit is Christ's spirit, and He is alive and well and communicating with His children. Quench Him not!

Born Again or Christian? Is there a difference and what is your biblical support ?

Yes.

The term Christian applies to anyone Believing in the Lord God.

The term “Born Again”
(Born Again Christian’s, Converted Christian’s, Made Whole Persons, Messianic Jews) applies to anyone who has called on the Lord and CONFESSED, their TRUE HEARTFUL Belief IN the Lord God….
Which THEN is that Person by the Power of God (Christ), Baptized with the Holy Spirit.

conclusion…
Christian IS a Gentile Believer.
Messianic Jew IS a Non-Gentile Believer.
Born Again is “Gentile or Jew” who has received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Glory to God,
Taken

Yes, you have to decide to turn from your sin and confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior and then choose to abide IN Christ enduring until the end.

Of course it's the Holy Spirit empowering one to do this thru the power in God's Word... but we are free will beings so it's OUR responsibility to choose to walk with the Lord.

how about just focus on following Christ Jesus /Messiah Yeshua and don't worry about labels. Live for how He has commanded, love Him, Honor Him, Glorify Him and love others as He has loved us. Love Good and Hate Evil. Share the gospel of Jesus.

Greetings Rita~To be totally scriptural there's a difference between the two words~All true Christians are born again, not all born again are Christian in the true sense of the meaning of Christians.

A person could be born of God's Spirit and not yet a full committed follower of Jesus Christ for a few reasons.

Only folks who have been baptized into the religion of Jesus Christ with a commitment of following his teachings and his people are called Christians.

A person could scripturally be born of the Spirit of God and know nothing of the true gospel of Jesus Christ until they hear that message~such people as heathens, infants, even your average next door neighbour. Yet, if born of God, then from that point forward they have the power to believe repent and be baptized into Christ's faith/religion, etc.

No man is a Christian until he is a committed follower of Jesus Christ, he then takes on the name CHRISTian, for he then is openly married to him as his bride.
wow,

Now this is out there

So I can be born again (have the wage of sin removed) and not know the gospel or Christ.

Talk about God be mocked :(

My Son needs to be Born of the Spirit....his spirit needs to be Born Again, that is what needs to happen.

I believe he is in the process of God drawing him to Jesus.....by reading his word......he needs his spirit to be Born Again only God can do that....if it’s his will that my Sons spirit is Born Again.
Have you told you son how to be born again?

Jesus explains to Nicodemus how to be Born Again and it’s not like this.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Man has made this to say what they want it to say...above....

Only those who have been brought to believe by God, will become Born Again like Jesus explains to Nicodemus below.
They were chosen by God and predestined to become Born Again....we are predestined sheep, Born Again.

This is how we are Born of the Spirit....exactly as Jesus explains to Nicodemus....a Born Again completely understands this.

John 3

King James Version

3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
