I’m for anything that peacefully promotes the reading of the Bible. God bless the students who invested their time and energy to the project.

I would have liked to have seen the reporter ask students - those who had a role in the project as well as those who didn’t - what effect it had on their Bible reading habits.

A reading plan is a tool, a spiritual discipline. It should be a delight, not a burden, to use.

I like the sentiment he expressed but I’d like to suggest a slight modification for consideration: replace the “you” with “us”.

Mark 1:38 Context
35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. 37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. 38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. 39And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. 40And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

I like your post as it suggests that when we read a whole chapter we should try to find some aspect of the narrative that interests us, and try to learn by this. This can be in our private reading, or with our wife, or family members. In a family environment each of us can comment or discuss an interesting aspect and thus increase our understanding of a particular aspect and our reading becomes more beneficial and interesting rather than only a set routine..

You highlighted one part and set it in its context. The context is that Simon Peter is really suggesting that Jesus is missing out on an opportunity to build on the popularity that had been produced due to his preaching and especially his many miracles the day before. But his need of prayer to avoid this shallow popularity and his need to ask a blessing to continue his work elsewhere is an indication that his ministry needed to be to humbly preach the word and make disciples of those who would listen to his word, rather than gain a following based upon the excitation of his miracles.

Another part of your selection is that Jesus heals a leper. We are used to reading this, but the uniqueness of such a great miracle is remarkable. We are conscious of this incurable disease today, but it is now rare except in a few parts of India. Some help to the next generation comes when the leper's children are given better nutrition and mainly isolated from their parents as practised in one location.
