I have been scanning the news lately and doing my civilian part in watching issues unfolding as we speak. There is a nuclear submarine and warships of the Russian country down at Cuba. Given the type of deployment they are using there are concerns of potential conflict which could result in nuclear warfare. There is also sensitivity with Israel and Iran that could induct the USA and Russia into a war. There is also China considering at minimum the occupation and recovery of the Taiwan country which could also induct the USA into war. If these wars break out, there is a good chance it will result in a nuclear conflict. If nuclear warfare unfolds what will be the consequences and hardship the American people will face. Basically how should we be prepared if that happens and what will it look like?
My intent is not to alarm people, as nuclear war is still only a potential at this point. But I do want as many people in the country to be prepared.
Russia, Iran, China, North Korea are now allies. It was recent on the news. If a nuclear strike results the probable targets will be the military and intelligence agencies. They might also go after the politicians to stop someone from conducting any further warfare. If they are planning a ground invasion they will also strike the national guard. I doubt that anyone will try a ground invasion, but I would not be foolish enough to assume so based on the success of the Ukraine war.
If nuclear war breaks out, nuclear fallout may contaminate water supplies. There are methods to extract drinkable water that may be contaminate, but an individual assessment of contamination using modern Geiger counter home based equipment would be necessary. And I will attempt to resolve methods for extracting clean water from contaminated sources. Please remind me to address that problem.
If a ground invasion begins possible targets vary which may include bridges to cut off military advancements into areas that the enemy wants to occupy. The effect on the population within those areas might be problems with food supply as well.
Some people that require medication will have to be aided in emergency operations if that becomes a problem.
I know some of the users of this forum have been wise in creating their own gardens and some have livestock. Which could help them survive. The Mormons have an old revelation that says for them to store up a one year supply of food. Does that include a clean and safe water supply? Also there are expiration dates on food kept in storage areas. If proper food handling practices for expired food is not done, troubling conditions could occur for those individuals.
There are some of us Christian who have read the revelations of God in the new testament and have discerned that if could be wise to keep a firearm. That must be done by educated and responsible adults and care must be taken to ensure that juvenile access to those firearms does not occur.
