It started with your every day evil human who is predisposed to hate God. Then we forget God and his commandments. Which results in a curse which corrupts the mind, leading to unsound demonicly inspired ideology. Which leads to the land spitting out its inhabitants for their sins.

Maybie God is just trying to prove unequivocally that his word is true, and there can be no freedom without him.
