The judgement occurs after Jesus returns.

And that's exactly why Christians try to pull them from the fire, before they are there.

No one can be pulled from someplace where they aren’t.

Rather than “pull them out,” I see “hold them back” in scripture (Proverbs 24:11-12).

You sound quite JW. Jesus said Hell is EVERLASTING!

I’m not a JW and the second death is everlasting.

Jude 1:22-23
22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction;
23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire,

Jude knew that they weren’t literally already cast into the fire of Gehenna. No one is cast into the fire until after they are resurrected and judged - and that doesn’t happen until after Jesus returns.

So what is Jude saying?

”Rescue any who need to be rescued, as you would rescue someone from a fire.”

Death NEVER means cease to exist in the NT!
Jude knew that they weren’t literally already cast into the fire of Gehenna.
Doesn't say Gehenna. Jesus said Hell fire!

And they will be tormented day and night FOREVER! Jesus said so.

I don’t agree with your assertion. Death never means life in the NT.

Doesn't say Gehenna. Jesus said Hell fire!

The Greek word is gehenna, which is distinct from the Greek word hades.

Everyone goes to hades; only the wicked are cast into gehenna - after they are judged.

And they will be tormented day and night FOREVER! Jesus said so.

If we get the first part right then the second part will become clear.

Your proof?

"They will be tormented day and night FOREVER"!
Everyone goes to hades; only the wicked are cast into gehenna - after they are judged.
Why did Jesus call it Hell Fire?
If we get the first part right then the second part will become clear.
So get it right.

Your proof?

The dead are dead, not alive.

"They will be tormented day and night FOREVER"!

See above.

Why did Jesus call it Hell Fire?

Gehenna is the location outside of Jerusalem where the trash was reduced to ashes by burning in ancient times. That is the picture Jesus wants his hearers to have in mind when he discusses the future that awaits the wicked.

So get it right.

That does nothing to advance the conversation.

“I’ve got it right. No, you’ve got it wrong. You get it right. No, You’ve ….”

Let’s not treat one another that way.

Oh yes they are!

Your opinion noted and rejected. Hell fire is EVERLASTING! Jesus said so.
That does nothing to advance the conversation.

Let’s not treat one another that way.
Hell will be FILLED with people who don't believe in Hell!

Jesus explained it quite clearly. "They will be tormented day and night FOREVER".

All that is left to do now is to square that with what we learned from the Christian source I quoted concerning gehenna.

Have you read Edward Fudge?

No, but I've read the Bible many times.

Matthew 25:41
41 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

He wrote an excellent book titled The Fire That Consumes. I recommend it to all and sundry.

No doubt. So, I would venture, has Edward Fudge.

I think you're saying Jesus is wrong.
