Simple question, Are you evil?
This is an example of a 'loaded question', which I didn't answer, BTW.

According to the Bible ALL are sinners, but those who have accepted Christ are covered by the blood of the lamb - thus making them just. In the eyes of God, those who are born again are justified by His blood. Their sins are washed away and will be remembered by God no more.

The Bible doesn't address evil, at least the concept that we use. According to Genesis 3, the judgment of good and evil is a judgment against God Himself by humans. It is a rebellious attitude and sickness that now infects the entire human race. Specifically, the Bible calls humans SINNERS.

GOD HATES SINNERS.

ok. Got that? The Bible never talks about the bleached out gospel that's been broadcast in recent years which mistakenly states that God hates the sin instead of sinners.

The Bible PROMISES that SINNERS, not some abstract misbehavior, will be tossed into the lake of fire. That sounds pretty personal to me. How about you?

The Bible also says that God mingles mercy with judgment. God is not willing for any to perish and so has provided a way of escape in the name and blood of Jesus Christ. Those who accept the sacrifice of Christ upon the cross are blessed with the second birth and eternal life. Those that reject this one and only offering of mercy by God get the super slide into oblivion and torture. It is SINNERS who are damned. God hates them. Make no mistake.

The wise choice, therefore, is to accept mercy while it is offered.

and that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

Interesting response, which leads to a question....

Reject this one and only offering of mercy by God, ie, what about those that don't have a love for the Truth?

We are evil because we do not love outwardly, perfectly. All we can do is trust God.

What God has made clean can not be made unclean, we sin because we are fallen not evil !!

Evil hates God and does not repent, these are not the characteristics of someone made clean though the sanctifying blood of Jesus Christ.

Acts 10:15
The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

Psalm 5:4
For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not dwell with you.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Hebrews 10:10
And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

It is not a question of "are you evil", but "How evil are you?
Evil is evil.....only in mans eyes does evil seem to have categories......with God...all evil is the same.....wether you tell a lie or murder 50 people...both will end up not in God's kingdom.

No man is so evil as to be beyond redemption... Found this on my laptop dictionary. :D

Here is something Jesus spoke about as being good...

Matthew 19:17
And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."

Luke 18:19
And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone."

Mark 10:18
And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except God alone.

Then we have Paul's letter to the Romans

Romans 3:10-18
as it is written,
“THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
11THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,
THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
12ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;
THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,
THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.”
13“THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE,
WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,”
“THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS”;
14“WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS”;
15“THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD,
16DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS,
17AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN.”
18“THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.”

Pretty grave words for those of you who think you are good...

The conundrum, how can God's children be considered evil? The issue wrestles with the holiness of God. Not only is He completely unstained, for there is no shifting shadow in Him, completely pure, He is also the complete, perfect manifestation of love and goodness.

The short answer...the reason for the Law was to point out the fact that we all need a Savior, every one of us. The fact is we all still need Christ, even those who have put their faith in Him. None can compare to the glory of God...none can look upon the Lord and not come to the reality of their personal evil. He is so far beyond, transcendent of evil, we can not truly comprehend His goodness. We are not.

Isaiah 6:5
Then I said, "Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

The best that can be said of us is we are a work in progress. Thanks be to the Lord that it is Him that is working in us and we are not left to our own devices!

Psalm 32:1-2
A Psalm of David. A Maskil. How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered! How blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit!
