As Hell is as real as Jesus, who talked about it more than He talked about Heaven.
When Jesus said it better to cut off your hand and rip out your eye, vs going to Hell, He was not kidding YOU.
It is apparent that someone is kidding you.....the “hell” Jesus spoke about in most of those instances was “Gehenna”....not “hades”....you haven’t discerned the difference?
“The lake of fire” is symbolised by the original “Gehenna”....Jerusalem’s garbage dump....the site is still there as you know.
Jesus talked about Hell.
You dont have to like it, or agree with it, but to teach its not there, is deception.
You belong to a religious system, that denies Hell.
Would you care to name it for the members here??
Dodging the Hebrew “Sheol” for a weak and empty reply ? No mention of what “Sheol” meant to A Jew?
Can you tell me what the ancient Jews (as opposed to the latter ones in Jesus’ day) knew “Sheol” to be?
Did the Jews learn about immortal souls from their Scripture, or from the pagan Hellenic culture that overtook them? What does history teach us about how well God’s people did as their God instructed them to do?
The members here already know what faith I practice, which involves deep Bible study.
What religious system do you belong to? Since there are only two recognised by God and his son, both of us are either in one or the other. Every person on this earth, at this point in time, is either a “sheep” or a “goat”....Yahweh does not read labels.
Eternal Life, is Jesus who is Eternal Life, and He becomes a sinners eternal life and sin bearer (Salvation) when they believe.
This is why Jesus told YOU...........that ""ALL who believe in ME... i give unto them ETERNAL LIFE and they shall never go to HELL (perish)"".
“they shall never go to HELL (perish)".....Look up the word “perish” in a Concordance.
If I told you that some people “perished” in a fire....would they still be alive?
The Jews were never taught that a soul could survive death.....they were taught that Sheol was “the grave” and that they would ‘sleep’ in an unconscious state, (Eccl 9:5, 10) until the future resurrection when Jesus would return to take them to be with him as rulers in his Kingdom. Those elected ones would be resurrected “first”. (Rev 20:6) The remainder on mankind would be resurrected later. (John 5:28-29) Jesus calls all the dead from their graves, which means that they are all still in them.
Those thrown into “Gehenna” have no grave from which to be called out, so the Jewish understanding was that these would never be resurrected. Gehenna is eternal death.
Did you somehow miss all that in your Bible study ?
Its only the body that is "dead because of sin" that ends, whereas the spirit in the person, is the literal eternal spiritual being.
Where does it separate a body from a soul? What is the “spirit” that Solomon spoke about in Eccl 12:7 that returns to God? It’s the same spirit that God gave Adam when he “became” a “soul”. (Gen 2:7)
The breath is the animating spirit that maintains life as long as the creature breathes. Animals are souls too and Solomon wrote that we have no advantage over them in death. (Eccl 3:19-20)
There is nothing that survives death....the devil told that first lie and has perpetuated it ever since.
So, if this is never born again, .. the body that is the container of the Spirit, dies, and is put in the Grave, and the Spirit goes to Hell.
I hear this “born again” stuff as if it makes certain ones special....every one else is going to “hell”! What a load of garbage!......sorry to burst your bubble but being “born again” does not happen in the flesh. Those specifically chosen for life in heaven have been anointed with God’s spirit as a token or pledge of their choosing, but being “born again” means shedding the (perishable) human body to take on (imperishable) spirit form.....the only form of life that can exist in heaven in the presence of God.
Paul wrote to the Ephesians concerning their calling....
Eph 1:9-14....
“He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.” (NASB)
The “administration” Paul refers to here, is God’s Kingdom...the one government that humankind can depend on to get us off of the treadmill of failed human rulership under the control of the devil. It is our only hope. Those chosen for administrative positions in that government are hand picked by God himself, just as he hand picked Jesus ‘ apostles....the ones who form the foundation of this Kingdom. (Rev 21:14)
See, there are only 2 eternal destinations.......and one is for the born again, and one is for the Christ Rejector, never born again.
Those with “the heavenly calling” (Heb 3:1) are the only ones taken to heaven to rule with Christ and to take on the role as priests (Rev 20:6)......so who do these ones rule and for whom do they act as priests?
Your scenario leaves out a whole bunch of people....the rest of redeemed mankind. Whom does Jesus resurrect? (John 5:28-29) He says “the dead” will be called out of their tombs....even those who “practiced vile things”. If they are already in “hell”, what is the purpose of this?
The former will be granted life as those who died faithful...and the latter to a judgment period, where the majority will have lived and died without knowledge of God or his savior. Would you relegate these ignorant ones to an eternal “hell” for living in a place, or at a time when God was unknown to them?
Is this the unjust god you worship?
Israel is my home, so, you can't bluff me regarding the theological "garbage dump" outside of the walls of Jerusalem, as your nonsense idea of Hell, as i know better, and so does the Bible.
Israel may be your home but are you a native? Are you a Jewish convert to Christianity? If so, whose teachings do you follow? Are you your own teacher? I get the impression that you are.
If you have no idea how the ancient Jews viewed Gehenna, then there is no point arguing with ignorance.
The ancient Jews had no “hell”, nor did they believe in life after death.....they believed in a future resurrection. Even Job mentioned this hope...
Job 14:13-15...at the height of his suffering he prayed to God....
“Oh that You would hide me in Sheol, That You would conceal me until Your wrath returns to You, That You would set a limit for me and remember me! “If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my struggle I will wait Until my change comes. “You will call, and I will answer You; You will long for the work of Your hands.” (NASB)
Did Job think that he would go on living and suffering in Sheol? Or was he praying to go there for the relief that it offered for his suffering? Being called out of his grave was what Job expected.....not that he would be consciously taken somewhere else.
Try to understand that HELL was created for the "Devil and his angles"' and there was no JERUSALEM city dump there was no JERUSALEM city dump, "Gethenna", at that time.
Oh dear...you have that all messed up as well.....Gehenna is “the lake of fire”, it is true, “prepared for the devil and his angels” but they were not the first ones to be cast there. (Matt 25:41) Nothing was “prepared for the devil and his angels” UNTIL they became “the devil and his angels”. When was that? It was AFTER man’s fall into sin. That is “the founding of the world” of sinful mankind descended from Adam...the ones who needed redeeming. Can you grasp that?
Only then was there a need to have a place to send all incorrigible rebels to eliminate them from existence....but only AFTER God had used the rebellion to his own advantage.
Do you understand how he did that?
