80 years since liberation of Auschwitz death camp

When I was a teenager I read a couple of books about what went on during the Holocaust. So I always remembered what the Holocaust actually was about.

The last few years I have watched a few lesser known movies (true stories) about the Holocaust. Tubi has them for free on their app or website if anyone is interested. And, of course, there is the story of Anne Frank....the old version was on the old Movie channel and I watched it again.

Younger people should try to watch at least the old version of Anne Frank.

Sad story that Russia was not invited to this event.
Considering the Russian army were the first to enter Berlin to defeat the nazis.
Hitler committed suicide just before the Russians arrived at his underground bunker.

The Soviet Union lost around 27 million people during the war, including 8.7 million military and 19 million civilian deaths.

Ukraine: The largest portion of military dead were 5.7 million ethnic Russians, followed by 1.3 million ethnic Ukrainians.

Would have been nice if all were in unity at this event without bypassing anyone.

Just watched two specials about the Holocaust on PBS.

One was about Jewish resistance fighters.

Although most were led off crammed into cattle train cars to the camps, some young people did resistance work. Alot operated out of the Jewish ghettos the Nazis forced them into before taking them to concentration camps.

Some Jewish girls that could pass as gentiles, sneaked out of the ghetto to try to find guns. Others that worked in the gun factory would sneak a little bit of gun powder out in their shoe so the resistance could make bombs. They also would make documents so Jews could pass as gentiles. Just a little of what they did.

The other special was the story of two survivors of Auschwitz.
