The problem with people relying on supposed “NEWS” outlets, (for decades), is the “HEADLINES”, reveals the intended “narrative”, and the body of the story is typically Opinion to support the Narrative, often void of the True Facts.
Prayer was NEVER BANNED in public schools by a court decision.
Prayer…as part of a public school curriculum, Was banned.
Prayer…lead by school employees, regarding students required to participate, Was banned.
Students in public schools, CAN and HAVE continued to pray in public schools, by themselves, in groups of willing students, who do so without disrupting the time-frame allotted for an established subject curriculum.

Journalism is not a matter of headlines followed by personal opinions. Since this thread is not about that,that is all I shall say on that matter.

Of course a court can never stop people from praying. The context missed in your remarks is that the issue of prayer was specific when addressed to a public audio,a public school, process of leading a prayer.
Of course the issue wasn't personal silent prayers. Because opponents to this cannot read people's minds so to bring a case.

My parents would watch the Red Skelton show reruns on the classic TV channel.It's strange to see him being serious there.
Prayer in American public school was not in the curriculum. It was typically carried out as a moment of silence that occurred just after students were led to recite the pledge of allegiance. And this was before classes began.
The good old days are done away now. I can't help but think American public schools started to fall when prayer and the pledge stopped.

I remember the moment of silence. Everyone in homeroom would bow their head.
This was every school day. And well into the mid-80's.
