10 Commandments Too Tough?

The first ten of God's many commandments are actually not all that difficult.

We're only talking about 10 rather than the bulk of the entire covenant that
Moses' people agreed upon with God per Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and
Deuteronomy. In other words; no priesthood, no sacrifices, no tabernacle,
no penalties, and no holy days of obligation except for the routine Sabbath.
See for yourself.

1» I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of
the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.

2» You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of
anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.

3» You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will
not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

4» Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and
do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.
In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your
male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger
who is within your gates.

5» Honor your father and your mother,

6» You shall not murder.

7» You shall not commit adultery.

8» You shall not steal.

9» You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10» You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your
neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor
his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

What's stopping anyone from obeying God's Commandments?
Nothing. But you left out the word "perfectly". Since even you are not obeying those commandments perfectly. And that is precisely what God demands. For whosoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of [breaking] all. (James 2:10)

There is no leeway here. Therefore no man can be regarded as righteous as Christ by obedience to the Law. Furthermore there is a whole raft of commandments in addition to the Ten Commandments which must also be obeyed perfectly. So the only one who obeyed the Law of Moses perfectly was the Lord Jesus Christ. Then He fulfilled the Law perfectly and established the New Covenant (which has the Law of Christ, and that Law incorporates the Ten Commandments within itself. See Romans 13).

The tenth commandment explains Matt 5:27-28

So: if coveting a man's wife is tantamount to adultery, then coveting his ox
and/or his burro must be tantamount to cattle rustling, and coveting his
house must be tantamount to claim jumping.
