What was the date of the Crucifixion?

What was the date of the Crucifixion 2?

I'd like to take this from our last discussion and add more here. A direct reference pointing to an AD30 crucifixion is John 2:13-20. This was the occasion when Jesus claimed he would rebuild the temple within three days, to which the Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this...

What was the date of the Crucifixion 2?

This continues from my previous thread by the same name which got stuck on one aspect. Please use the previous thread for discussion concerning the Passover. Let us start this thread with a timeline that ties other historical data. Notice, there is no year zero.

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Here it is in the Word of God: Compare John 19:14 with Mark 15:25. St. John was counting from midnight (Roman time) when he describes Jesus trial as the “sixth hour.” St. Mark was counting from daybreak when he describes Jesus crucifixion as the “third hour.”

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

That’s because Jesus was crucified on Passover day and Passover day was the 15th of Nisan. (Numbers 33:3) The Paschal meal was eaten early 15th. The crucifixion was the following morning which was still the 15th. That’s because John’s Gospel uses the Roman time system, the sixth hour being 6...

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Non-Jewish readers may be excused for interjecting, “But hadn’t they eaten it the night before?” That is when Matthew, Mark and Luke said it took place. Some commentators just choose to ignore John, but others make much of it, claiming the Paschal lambs were slain when Jesus died. Still others...

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Fantastic post FotG. Yes, when we really think about it, every lamb offered (both the morning and afternoon) pointed to the sacrifice of Christ, not just the Paschal lamb. Notice the lamb in the morning of the 15th following the Passover dinner was killed it 9 o’clock approx when Jesus was...

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Hang on. Tiberius 15th year was Aug AD28 to Aug AD29, so Jesus first Passover would have been April AD29 and his last Passover April AD32. See FotG’s post number 67. So, like I said, it doesn’t “cut the butter” for AD 30 OR AD33. However, there is another explanation. I’ll get back tomorrow.

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Thanks for Luke 3:1-3 Looks like it doesn’t “cut the butter” for AD 30 OR AD33. Hmmm :smlhmm:

Very useful verses Fullness of the Gentiles. Much appreciated.

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

It matters because it affects our count of Daniels 70 weeks. Entire prophetic systems stand or fall on correct timing of that prophecy.

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Huh? Just add 46 yrs to BC 20 and, wallah, we've got 27 AD! Add another 3 yrs for Jesus ministry and, voila,:stageright:we've got 30 AD!

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

Herod was renowned for his building projects and the dates are well recorded. He began the temple in BC 20 and the 46th year of construction was AD 27. Refer history books, encyclopedias, Josephus, Bible side notes and commentaries. Yes, Bible dates ARE important.

I just gave you a date from the Bible. (post#30) It was explicit. Hang around if you want some more.

What was the date of the Crucifixion?

From St. Johns timeline: :crossword: (John 2:11) "This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee ... (John 2:12) After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days ... (John 2:13) The Passover of the Jews...

A direct reference pointing to an AD30 crucifixion is John 2:13-20. This was the occasion when Jesus claimed he would rebuild the temple within three days, to which the Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?" (John 2:20) This...
