The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

Bobby Jo, I said almost the exact same thing earlier. I agree. The point about Jesus saying buy a sword, and the most dangerous animals being human.... Yea... I brought it up. Not a knock on you... 900+ posts here so I don't blame you for missing mine! Heck, I even said I only read the OP...

The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

Yeah, but that verse is still there, ain't it?

The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

Yes, actually that is what he meant. And we are talking about swords because 1. Their were no guns back then and 2. You said in your OP that it was unChristian to own ANY weapon. A sword is a weapon.

The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

That is very insightful. However it's doesn't take away from the fact that not only did Jesus tell them buy them, some of them already owned them and Jesus never rebuked them from having them. There is the argument that Jesus didn't tell them to buy guns or bows and arrows... but I think...

The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

Well Luke says that two swords is enough. Matthew says put the sword in its place (neither of these verses say not to have them).

The Insanity of the "right" to have guns!

896 messages in this thread, so I am sure someone has brought this up... John 18:10 KJV Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. Peter had a sword. Jesus said put it away, but he never condemned...

Christianity boils down to believing in the end, there's no other way around it

Ace.... Oh my goodness.... Wecould be friends but you are way off! 1. God doesn't care about your feelings. He cares about you, but not your feelings. 2. Yes, God does use scare tactics and punishment to make people agree. Have you not read the OT? Even in the NT he did. 3. You are not...

Christianity boils down to believing in the end, there's no other way around it

Many think that God is all about love. Well God is love, but God is more about truth than love.

Christianity boils down to believing in the end, there's no other way around it

I find a lot of fault with this philosophy. I also don't know what is the main point you are trying to make. "Believing" doesn't always mean we don't know. In fact, it's just the opposite. People believe because they DO "know". Now, from there we can make arguments. Not all beliefs are...

Have you ever physically felt in dreams?

I did a quick search and found that there is evidence that B vitamins can have an effect on dreams. Dreams can have an effect on the body... I remember a terrifying dream which literally left me paralyzed when I woke up. Furthermore, (not meaning to be gross) most men can recall their teenage...

Are There People Doomed For Destruction?

At least you admit to doing it as well... The only true reasonable way to handle any controversy is to hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Though you may think otherwise; I have. I am aware of the verses used to support free will and "God loves everybody" as much as I am aware of the...

    Did Jesus die on Friday?

Here is a question: if a Jewish person goes on a fast for 3 days and 3 nights, how many hours would that be for?

Are There People Doomed For Destruction?

I imagine they do. But just like I have strong and undeniable verses on predestination, I also have strong undeniable verses that all have access to salvation.

Are There People Doomed For Destruction?

Of course. As long as we follow the plan, but only God knows if we will. We have assurance that IF we stay on his path we will have eternal life. We have no assurance that we will, so we must contend for the faith.

Are There People Doomed For Destruction?

Quietthinker, are you suggesting that I have been selective in the verses I chose to highlight? I realize that God has invited all people to know him. That point cannot be disputed.

Are There People Doomed For Destruction?

I certainly can't. It clearly says that Pharaoh and Judas were foreknown what they would do and in fact was part of the plan. People hate to hear that God hardened Pharaoh's heart and try to wiggle out of it. But the Bible still says it! I firmly believe in predestination and the belief that...

Why Argue Against Doing the Law?

I'm gonna need a flow chart for that one! It reminds me of this: "Crazy people don't know they are crazy, but I know I'm crazy, so I am not crazy! Isn't that crazy?"

    Should Christianity be less political?

Wynona, that is a great question and you set it up perfectly! Furthermore, the responses all around have been very good. I don't think there is a clear cut answer, but I have a stance (its ok to have a stance, even though you realize it isn't perfect, isn't it?) The leaders of this world...

Why Argue Against Doing the Law?

#stunnedbygrace may not have liked it, but I like that short statement (no offense by any means to her). It sums up what I was trying to say earlier in a much shorter fashion.

Why Argue Against Doing the Law?

We as Christians (whether gentiles or Hebrews) are not under the Law. We have been relieved of that, and for a very good reason: because no one can keep it. Jesus, Paul and James all had the same point in that if you break one point of the law, you are guilty of breaking the whole law. Jesus...
