We are to bear one anothers burden, but each carry his own load. What do your studies tell you about what is their burden, and what is your load?

Much love!

Intersting question. Scripturally, the Bible talks about covering over a multitude of sins be recovering someone from them (James 5), so that might be one way to bear someone's burden. Also helping them deal with their calling, and everything God is asked them to do. Our own load deals with more personal things no one but us will really understand because it is only us going through it.

Hadn't put much thought to it, though. How about you?

Those who are cleansed of mortal sin are who will be saved. They have the Holy Spirit who continue to work on sins not unto death through our conscience. 1 John 3:21-24. As long as we keep growing in fruit (venial), we won't stall, meaning stop abiding. If we stop abiding though Jesus took away our sins unto death, we could open the door to willful sins unto death. They are the ones who step off the path to salvation. As Jesus can see who are His from beginning to END He will say to those who stalled and even committed a sin unto death, "I never knew you." One of the warnings in the New Testament is having our names removed from the book of life. This is not who ever lived on earth, but who will live forever.

You said a LOT in this post, sister, and referenced a lot of scripture. But by and large I agree, especially with this last paragraph. I think it's all quite well thought out, on a surface examination. :gd

When Jesus takes that person who at one time was in Him but no longer are producing fruit, they are cast into the fire.
That's not what the passage says. I suggest you read it through again more carefully.

You are making an assumption that a branch that does not remain in Jesus had in fact been remaining in Jesus, and then stopped. But that's not what it says.

I walk with my wife in our neighborhood most days. I pass house after house, and I can point to each one, I don't abide in that house. I don't live there, I don't remain there. Should you then think that I once did? You'd be incorrect about that.

John 15 deals with 3 sorts of branches. The branch that does remain in Christ, but does not bear fruit, the Father carries away. The branch that does remain in Christ that does bear fruit, the Father cleanses so it bears more fruit. The branch that does not abide in Christ, these are gathered and burned.

The branch not living in Christ is burned. The branch living in Christ is either carried away or pruned/cleansed, depending on whether or not they bear fruit.

This is specifically what the passage says.

Much love!

It's something I've pondered on occasion, without really being definitive. I like your answer! Still mulling it over, but I do like your answer!

Question & Applications

Salutation HIH….You out did yourself.
1. What thoughts do you remember having as you were reading through this study? Do you recall anything in particular standing out in your thinking.

I think you did a great job on several topics.

2. What have been your thoughts when you heard some new believer say, "But I don't feel saved?," and what have you attempted to tell them in the past?

But I don't feel saved? Some would say to tell them to not worry about it. If you believe, you are saved. I disagree. They should consider….was I changed? Did I receive the Holy Spirit? Faith, repentance, Baptism, and the Bread and Wine Ritual ….were you changed? Did your life change? Was it all the same? Do you want to read the Bible? Do you want to go to church and worship the Lord and fellowship with Christian? Or is it all the same as before? You feel the same and think the same and do the same.

If so, you are probable not saved. If you are concerned, start going to church….even if you have to force yourself. Maybe you know a Christian that goes to church and go with him or her. I recommend Holy Ghost churches. Go for a while and participate with groups that are doing Bible studies. Fellowship and worship the Lord with Christians. If needed talk to the pastor there.

As you go along you may see the light and receive the Holy Spirit and know that you want to live a Christian life. If you find yourself repenting on what your life was….you are on the right track. If you want to live a Christian life, all is good. If you want to be Baptized again, go ahead and do it….not that the first did not take.

Stay in church, Christ never intended for us to be hermit Christians. You will never find a scripture that supports not going to church and fellowshipping with Christians. Home churches are fine too.

3. Food for thought: Do you feel the advice to reinforce their faith with spiritual evidence could be skewed and turned into a law?

Not sure what you are asking.

4. For the sake of viewers who might like to see testimonies of the work of Christ in us and how this teaching applies, what fruit of the Spirit do you feel the Lord has manifested through you the most?

What I am going to say here is that one the greatest things we can do is raise our children as Christians. A church going family. A family that is built around God in the home. What fruit of the Spirit do I feel the Lord has manifested through me the most? My interest to know God better and the fact that I am a walking speech.

5. What fruit or spiritual gifts have you been "abounding in" more lately? Again, understand that this is not an exercise in pride, but giving testimony to what Christ is doing in and thorough you.

A miracle life! I knew God when I was riding around in diapers on a tricycle and listening to my dad and mom and friends playing Bluegrass Gospels. The rest would sound like bragging. And why I say it is so important to raise your children as Christians and be a church going family.

It's possible among preachers. It can happen when they are seduced by a woman, or dabble in pornography until it has such a hold on them they act on it. I know of one pastor that became a rapist.

Its possible regarding any believer.

This is why we are supposed to stay vigilant, because our enemy goes about looking for someone who has lost focus and is easily tempted.

As I understand a "dead faith" from James, he's speaking of a belief that doesn't bring conversion, only being an acknowledgement of fact, not the embrace of the One Who is Truth, resulting in a new man.

When James is explaining dead faith, he's talking to the the born again.
He's not talking to people who are not born again, as in that case... it would not make sense to be talking to unbelievers, about their "dead faith" as they dont have any faith in Christ yet, and are not born again yet.
You have to have the Faith, before it can become "dead".
So, its the CHRISTian, who has Faith, that is "dead"........and that does not mean "dead salvation" as Charismatics teach it, and some other religious groups who dont understand their Salvation.

Yes, I agree. A pastor should always keep His office door open when counseling a woman, and never all alone.

Its not clear to you at all.

You are not understanding "IN ME",.......... as you believe this is your behavior or discipleship, and that has nothing to do with it.
Nothing.

LOOK CLOSELY..

How do you get "IN" Jesus?
How do you get "INTO Christ"?

Commandment keeping?
Being Good?
Water Baptism?

= No.
You are found "IN" Christ , only by one method and that is the same that keeps you there.

Its to be BORN AGAIN......>"IN Christ"., and there is no other way to get "IN" Christ and stay there.

And to "abide" "IN" Christ, is the same thing.

Yes, and it's a glorious passage in the context of what we are discussing.

1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any sin, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. 5 For each one shall bear his own burden. (Galatians 6:1-5)

Being spiritual here equates to being gentle and forgiving, not proud, which can leave you wide open to becoming tempted yourself. And interestingly, one of the things I learned about the last verse there ("for each one shall bear his own burden"), is that I am not going to be judged by the hand someone else was dealt, and they are not going to be judged by mine. A man who has been beaten and abused and rejected his whole life and yet lashes out in a moment of weakness because a lot of bad memories came ruching back is not going to be judged in the same way some other man is who lead a blessed and sheltered life and had good parents and everything he needed to be happy. Sorry, the first man is bearing a much heavier burden he is trying to overcome. Sin is still sin, but forgiveness doesn't hold everyone to a cookie cutter standard and then condemn those who don't measure up. The spiritual man acts on what the Spirit tells him to, and the Spirit looks on the heart of a man, and discerns what he has been through and accounts for it just like the Lord does.

Man could I tell you some stories here. I asked about how the gifts of the Spirit can affect the reinforcement of our faith in one of the questions, and I have been corrected by the Spirit numerous times in just the last few months alone. I LIKE being sweet and gentle and kind. I love that version of me, and that's the man I want to become more and more. But all the junk I've suffered in my life can come back around as well, and sometimes it was all I could do to practically combust. But when He governs your emotions, He will inform you that this is the way you should respond, whether you like it or not. There is no room for pity parties in the things of God. We are all a work in progress, and if we cannot master forgiving each other we will never get where the Spirit of God is trying to take us.

Blessings, and I very much appreciate your post.

Well, it seems that you are trying to prove that "if you dont believe anymore" then you are not saved anymore.

However that is not the Gospel.

The Gospel does not say......>"all who believe and never stop believing". i will save.......but a false gospel would say that.

What the Gospel says is that your "Faith is counted by God" and that happens one time, and you have met God's Requirement., so God gives the person the "new birth" based on them having Faith, that day... that moment.......just once.

God sees that real faith in a person's heart, and accepts it.. and then from that moment.. we have this.........

A.) "God who started SALVATION, in the born again, will HIMSELF be Faithful to complete it".

See, God is the author of Salvation, not us.......
All we can do, is receive it, and once received, its eternal.

This means, it will never be changed, lost, or ended.

An Array Of Reinforcements

But what happens if the enemy succeeds in seducing us? What if during a time of weakness we slip up and give in to sin? It is at this point that the believer needs secondary levels of reinforcement, similar to how the Roman lines would stack rows upon rows of soldiers one behind the other, and rotate them out to keep the lines fresh. In the spiritual war, if the first line of defense breaks, we need to fall back on what we have "behind us," or in other words, what Christ has done through us and in us in the past. So Satan got a little victory in our lives, and found a way to bring us a little shame and defeat. What happens now?

The account of Job reveals very clearly that Satan deliberately tries to set things up so we will not just engage in sin but ultimately curse God to His face and denounce Him afterwards, bringing complete and total destruction to our faith.

8 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?" 9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!" (Job 1:8-11)

He uses all manner of tricks to attempt this. In New Testament times, he was perpetrating the lie that eating meat sacrificed to demons was permissible for Christian, up until they actually did so, at which time he began beating them over the head for having taken communion with a demonic god and "sinned against the Lord." As Paul stated, it could potentially lead to some brothers "perishing," in thinking they had committed an unforgivable sin against God, and cast down their faith in Him altogether.

10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols? 11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?... the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God: and I would not that you should have communion with demons. (1 Corinthians 8:10-11, 10:19-20)

The Gnostics, regarding whom Peter was writing this letter, were doing similar things. They were teaching others that fornication was permissible, and that no amount of sexual sin could affect a believer's salvation, for they supposedly now had "freedom" from the Old Testament laws. But as Peter would say, this "freedom" was a lie.

17 These are wells without water... 18 For when they speak great and swelling exaggerations, they allure through the lusts of the flesh and through sexual licentiousness those who have actually escaped from the ones living in error. 19 While they promise them freedom, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whatever a person is overcome, by that he is also brought into enslavement. (2 Peter 2:17-19)

Here again Satan would begin beating them over the head once they had committed sins like adultery, once their defenses were greatly diminished against his accusations because they were now guilty as charged. And if they had never reinforced their faith with anything they could point to to say Christ had indeed been working through them in the past, their faith might be hanging by a thread indeed.

Though it's painful to think about, we need to ask ourselves, "What if I do succumb to Satan's strategies some day, and what if I do fall into sin? Will I stand or will I fall?" Paul stated in one place that sin can quite easily beset us (Hebrews 12:1), and in another place warned, "Let him who stands take heed lest he fall." (1 Corinthians 10:12). I have personally struggled with sins throughout much of my Christian life, which is not something I am proud of. I also love the Lord, however, and have dedicated my life to serving Him, and I've had Him manifest Himself through me so many times that the Accuser has had little chance with getting me to cast down my faith. He cannot tell me there has been no true spiritual conversion in my life. Sure I may still struggle in some areas, but there is no way I would have ever been capable of the things I have done without truly coming to Christ. No way.

But I have a brother who has made some mistakes in the past, and his wife gives him a hard time over it. There are difficulties in his marriage and home life, and he and his family have also experienced multiple spiritual attacks through witchcraft. This is likely in part because he has a calling on his life and has been used mightily of God to receive prophetic dreams in the past, some of which have been important to my own life. Yet he has succumbed to depression, and to taking medication to function at his job. What is the answer for a dear brother in Christ like this who is facing such struggles? He hangs on, but sometimes talks as if He is of little value in the kingdom of God now.

I believe the answer is to fall back on the times we have been used of God, so I am reminding him of how the Lord has used him in the past and continues to. The man sent me a dream not long ago that contained wonderful promises and was a great encouragement to me, and how the Lord intends to use me and others, so I highlighted these things to him, and remind him not to lose sight of the work the Holy Spirit is still doing within him. And I remind him too that the end goal as Peter said is that we make our calling and election sure, so that we can be certain to be granted access into the kingdom of God at His return or at our deaths, which ever comes first.

2 things
1) sin is not necessarily a product of behavior or thoughts.
Sin is rooted in a misunderstand of WHO WE ARE.
If a believer could get a glimpse of who he is, he will never sin.
( not saying I walk 100% in that)
2) all depression is naval gazing. That individual is "man" or "human centered."
That is the American gospel.
The American gospel "works" if everything rocks along with minimal trials.
The true Gospel is 100% commitment.
Selling out to Jesus.
If that brother gets a glimpse of this he will be set free, and no matter the trial, he will look up instead of into his self and circumstances.
The starting place of trials is calling on the name of Jesus.
But not in pleading or weakness.
Not even for help.
Call out his name in Authority and power.
Call out his name like a boss.
Call out his name in faith.
Stand your ground and then ...HERE COMES THE ANOINTING LIKE A BATH IN HONEY!!!!!!

that brother is not properly aligned.
That guy's problem is not circumstances.
His problem is circumstances do not have rule or have any authority.
His problem is the American gospel.
His problem is " my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge "

Ps 91 has 3 conditions
Ps 91 has the believer separated from all attacks and in that separate position, he looks on and sees the clanging commotion off to his side.
He is now standing beside God, and the trial or attack is INDIRECT.

The simple fact is, the passage does not say what you claim. If fully lacks any wording that would indicate "a branch no longer in Me", or something like that. You've got the idea that this is what is true, and so you see it in the passage, except, it's not there, and you would benefit from understanding that.
What do you think the Father does with those He "carries away."
They are home with Him.

Much love!

Peter refused to buckle under pressure. His faith that he was in the right was strong, and that they were obediently serving Christ. But what if this event had taken place just after he had denied Christ three times before the crucifixion? Chances are he would he have shrunk back in fear and shame. But now things had changed.
A boldness for Christ ! This is what we all need in large doses , in my early Christian walk it just wasn't there for me sadly , it was all on me though not Jesus . I pray now that I can proclaim Christ to anyone at anytime , we need to be ready to do this . People need to see that light shining in our eyes as we speak to them .
4. For the sake of viewers who might like to see testimonies of the work of Christ in us and how this teaching applies, what fruit of the Spirit do you feel the Lord has manifested through you the most?
Caring for others , I have tried to follow his examples . I watched my Dad who was a nominal Christian , he did not quote the Bible or talk about God much at all but It was in the way he cared about other people if they were hurting in their lives or a bad situation .
My Dad did repair work in peoples homes and once upon making a repair and collecting a check for the repair , upon getting in the car he handed the check to my brother who was with him and told him to put the check in the glovebox of the van and we would cash it IF needed , it was never needed . My Dad saw the problems the family was having so it was his way of helping them out without them feeling like they had been given charity .
5. What fruit or spiritual gifts have you been "abounding in" more lately? Again, understand that this is not an exercise in pride, but giving testimony to what Christ is doing in and thorough you.
Empathy for what others are going through . I want people to see Christ in my actions in this world . I covet your prayers for me .

B, I was raised a Christian, believed in Jesus as my Savior, but I was wrong for 30 years. That was not enough to be born again of the Spirit. It was only after I truly repented that I was filled with His Spirit and my sin nature was completely cleansed from lawlessness. That is how you then can naturally keep God's laws to abide IN Him, and He IN me. There is no working against your nature like those you are talking about. I hope you someday see the difference.

1 John 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Do you remember Paul talking about a "thorn in his flesh " ?

2 Corinthians 12:7 Context

4How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 5Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. 6For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should think of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth of me. 7And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

1 John 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Being "In Christ" is how you abide in Him.

Let me show you this.....

If you are not born again, but you keep "His Commandments'......... are you "IN Him"?

You are not.

See, Jesus gave few commandments.........and none of them will cause you to become 'IN Christ".

God however, gave us one and that is....>>>"that we believe on Jesus, whom God sent" and if we do, we are born again, and now "abide" IN Christ".

Jesus explains that as..."All who believe in me, i give unto you Eternal Life"......and that LIFE, is were the born again "ABIDE" in Christ who is "THE LIFE">.....

So, that is the commandment that places us "In Christ'.......were all the born again "Abide".

Another way to think of this eternal abiding is to be joined to God as "one with God", now "seated in Heavenly Places" "IN Christ"., as this is where all the born again "Abide" forever.

See, being "IN HIM">....is to become joined to God and Christ = Spiritually..............and that is how you abide there, as you can't be there, unles you are joined to God Spiritually, and this spiritual union is Eternal as its God controlled.

Looking forward to getting back to some responses. Just doing some more writing while listening to music, and noticed these lyrics. It's the point the study is trying to get across.

"I'm so thankful for this life that I know. That I am no longer what I was. Because of Your love, and the beauty of the cross. I can see Your work in me." (2:48 - 3:08)
