Satan was cast here before us. So Satan being represented at the tree is wild to think about. It was the gateway to this fallen reality.

God planted the forbidden tree in Eden. God permitted the serpent to enter and slither up that one tree that Omniscience knew would be eaten of. We did not give Satan a thing. God did.

Could we have done that, fallen, were it not for the forbidden tree being planted by God in the garden?

God cast Lucifer and his angels to earth after they lost the war in heaven. He could have destroyed them utterly but he didn't. He sent them here where humans would come to be created and have to navigate after the fall. And while Satan roams like a hungry lion seeking souls to devour.
Impossible were it not for God casting him here.

I think God saw that there wasn't a situation where he could prevent us from eventually falling. We are here to learn why sin is wrong.

You question in the title makes me think of: 1 Corinthians 5:5 To deliver (hand over)such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
