Yes! Even false doctrines are recognized as soon as you hear one, because they are the opposite of what the Word of God means. The Spirit of Truth lets us know the truth in His Word. False doctrines twist that truth to fit a carnal nature. And without the Spirit they chose teachers that tickle their weaknesses.

Adding to @justbyfaith, Jesus said we MUST be born again of the Spirit. Unfortunately, not everyone who claims to be a Christian and knows about Christ or even the laws of the OT has been born again. It is not something you can just "claim" because you go to church and you've read about it. I went to church for 30 years, before being born again. Because I was raised right, I never lied or stole anything, but when it came to other sins of the flesh, like sex, I couldn't resist. When I realized I was totally weak in this one area, and wanted to be free of this carnal nature that made me obsessed, I cried out to Jesus and just told Him, I couldn't stop on my own, even for Him, so if He wanted me to stop, He would have to do something. I didn't know what to expect. About 2-3 weeks later, I saw a vision of my sin, God spoke to me (!!!) and then baptized me with His Holy Spirit. I felt it. It felt like warm electrified oil being poured on my head and covering me. I felt so light, I even looked at my feet to see if they were still on the floor. Immediately I was free of all desire to sin, even "that" one. The righeousness of God was written on my heart, and I remained faithful to keep abiding in Him. The alternative I never wanted to see again. Matthew 7:21-23.

The main gift that God gave me was being able to hear His voice. In 1 Corinthians 12, they would be prophecy, word of wisdom and word of knowledge. There is one more "hearing" gift which I don't have, and that is interpretation of tongues. I don't have the ability to receive messages in tongues FROM God either, just prayer language TO God. Mark 16:17, 1 Corinthians 14:15.

While 1 John 1:8 is referring to indwelling sin in the present, 1 John 1:10 is referring to practical sins in the past.



Call me a nut case if you like, you wouldn't be the first one to do that.

There is no discrepancy in the kjv (or in any of the other versions) between an accurate understanding of 1 John 1:8 and 1 John 3:9, 1 John 3:6, 1 John 2:17.

The latter verses teach that we can walk in freedom and victory over practical sinning in the present and in the future.

The first of these verses (1 John 1:8) teaches us that we all have a nature of sin; and that the element of sin dwells within each one of us.

Does this mean that it is inevitable but that we will commit sin?

No; because the element of sin can be rendered dead (Romans 6:6, Galatians 5:24, Romans 7:8) and therefore inept; so that it no longer has any say over our behaviour (Romans 6:14).

I want to say thank you for providing me another opportunity to espouse one of my favourite doctrines in the Bible.

Whether or not I have a mental illness (which I do; and I find solace in the fact that the Lord's power is made perfect in my weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9), the things that I am saying to you are biblical and they are based in sound doctrine of the word of the Lord.

(As concerning my mental illness, the fact that I know that I have one makes me all the more reliant upon the Holy Spirit and prayer when I make my posts.)

I don't mean whatsoever to insult you based on any illness, or handicap beyond your ability to rectify. I call everybody names whenever I feel that their position is too radical to take serious.
God did not ordain the KJV to be His preserved and unadulterated Word. It is nothing more than a quality translation amongst a long line of other extremely well constructed Bibles. Except that, the modern versions are better, due to archaic language in the KJV, and the limited amount of resources that textual criticism was performed on.
Everyone sins, end of story.
No creature can be God, end of story.

I'm not sure what you mean by "all roads lead to Him," so don't know what to say to that. :)

This is the path I walk.
The Law is Jesus. He came and filled in the blanks that we couldn't fill in.
He satisfied the requirements of the law.
We are flesh, we are weak. We can not keep the law in the flesh. You must be born again.
The law which Moses recieved had no mercy no forgiveness. It was a stone to those who had stony hearts.
There were some like David that was able to see through the stone and reach the law that was meant for the spirit in the heart
The Spirit of the law, testifying to our spirit that the law is good.
Jesus explained that Just because you don't physically commit adultery, you are still guilty if you have lust in your heart.
You may not actually steal your neighbors car, but you may have it in your heart to try and take possesion of it.
So many lawsuits today are due to covetousness. They sue people to apprehend their property, their money..
And even if you don't go to court, even thinking about doing it is a sin.
If you hate your brother.. that is, your christian family, in your heart, you've committed murder.
The Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us when we step out of alignment. We feel guilty or ashamed, or even angry at ourselves.
What was I thinking!!??
The Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of the Lord which is Jesus, keeps us walking on that strait and narrow path.
To me, Jesus is God's law that we were meant to walk in. That we were meant to meditate on.
And by doing so bears much fruit.
Goodness, Kindness, Mercy, Peace, Longsuffering.. lots of fruit. :)

So that's why I say, I believe we are both walking in the same direction. The destination goal is the same.
It's just maybe we come by paths that are side by side..
So Romans chapter 7 is like a man who is struggling to say what he means.. it is hard to put into words.
But I believe the conclusion is where I find my path as well:
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

There is always a war raging between the flesh.. I want, I need, for me..
and the Spirit.. God wants, God needs, from me.

So, I guess the question could be ' will we recognize and use the way out that He provides us? Or will we choose to ignore it. I know I have ignored, or just did not recognize His safety net... I fall short of the mark, of what God requires: "perfection". Though I stay in the race, strive and endure all things as a good soldier of Christ!!! Press on Christian soldier, and we will overcome :)

I found that verse:
1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

And I looked at a few different translations:

NLT: Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.

NIV: No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

ESV: No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God

There are a lot that say one cannot sin.. and a lot that say cannot keep on sinning.

It is even abhorrent! It is just not in their nature. We do what comes naturally: either that of a lion, or that of a lamb. You can’t be both.

I believe that the kjv is the unadulterated word of God...you can take a broader path, taken by many, if you wish, in the belief that it is not inspired and inerrant.

I do believe also that many of the modern translations do water down the message of God's word...and that the people who translated them qualify as teachers that you have heaped to yourself because your itching ears want to hear their message over and above the unadulterated message that we find in the kjv...which is rejected by many, because it is more in conjunction with the doctrine which is according to godliness (1 Timothy 6:3, Titus 1:1)...and people prefer the message that they can continue on in a lifestyle of sinning and still go to heaven.

I agree there is no more desire or willingness to sin. You do not wantingly hate your brother. Sometimes they can get you real mad, but you don't hate them to death. You don't wish them to die. Mercy and longsuffering and patience replace that wrathfulness.
You do not willfuly or desire to have unhealthy relationships. You do not lust after other people's husbands, wives, girlfriends, boyfriends.
You seek their happiness and not your own. You don't lie about other people. You either tell the truth or don't gossip at all.
Actually gossipping is horrible. I have to remind my mother in law everytime she calls, that what her neighbors do is no concern of mine.
She says she just likes to keep me up to date. I tell her I have enough laundry already.
I set aside the seventh day of the week to spend exclusively with the Lord. and lately that's been every day of every week. Daily even.
But that day I search for special music, special psalms, and have some quiet time in prayer. I sing, I dance and am especially greatful for the rest he brings. I don't steal or take things that belong to others, including plagerism. Everyone's thoughts are their own and I have mine.. lots.

If this is what you mean by not being able to commit sin, not desiring or willfully pursuing sin, then I agree.
Your conscience (Holy Spirit) will stand in the way. However, if by chance you do slip and become overly agitated, try to get around something by telling "a little white lie" , fall into the gossip trap because you don't want to offend your mother in law, or find you slept your entire weekend away.
If any of these kinds of things ahould happen, We are told that we can come to our Lord and ask for forgiveness for our moments of weakness.
We can confess our faults to one another and ask their forgiveness.
Asking for forgiveness is the most humbling experience. And it is very healthy to walk humbly with the Lord.

In the lion analogy you gave. The lion has no thirst for blood. It has no desire to kill. However, there may come a time when that lion must kill and provide food for it's survival or it's cubs.
Proverbs puts it like this:
Pro 6:30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Pro 6:31 But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
However, my response would be, as soon as you can make restitution do so. And ask for forgiveness. Don't wait till you get caught.
A woman who needs milk for her baby, even though she is a born again God fearing woman, will do all she can to feed her child.
If she must take what doesn't belong to her, then the fault lies with those who were unwilling to provide for her baby.
This is a hard and cruel world we live in. Everyone must take responsibility for oneself. And when it is in your ability, to help others out in their times of need. A little charity goes a long way.
In this, the church as a whole has failed.

Side by side, sis. There is just one crucial item in a check list you missed stating. We must forgive others their trespasses against us, so we CAN go before God and have our trespasses forgiven. Matthew 6:14-15. You don't seem the type to hold on to grudges, and form bitterness of heart. That scripture and 1 John 3:21-24 is how I live my life. It is very easy. Jesus said, "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

The type of sin in 1 John 3:9 is stated at the beginning of the chapter in verse 4, "sins of lawlessness." That is deliberate as we all know the law. These are sins unto death. 1 John 5:16-17. Trespasses, Leviticus 5:15, are unintentional and Not unto death. Numbers 15:22-36 shows the difference between the two. A true Christian doesn't hate, let alone murder, or steal. It really tears at my heart to watch the news and see kids killing kids in rival gangs. All lions, mostly due to no father in the home, and going elsewhere for a "family." Their consciences are seared to feel nothing. Only Jesus can give them a brand new conscience and nature, and many of them find Jesus in prison.

1 John is definitely in agreement with Paul in Galatians 5:19-22 regarding those who PRACTICE sin. Those who deny they sin John says are liars in 1 John 1:7-10 but those who confess their sins are of God. Don't let the false teachers influence you are twist 1 John to make you believe sinlessness can be attained in this life. Not until the Resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15 takes place with we be:

another lie from you as I'm all for the pursuit of God and living a holy life. I'm against reaching a state of sinless perfection which Paul declares will only occur in the Resurrection and in the new heavens and new earth when sin will no longer exist.

In the meantime just stay in De Nile and I do not mean the river in Egypt.
