If seatbelts save lives, why do we enforce drunk driving laws? Couldn't we just all wear seatbelts?

Fortunately, where masks have been worn by most people, the rate of infections is declining. And where they haven't, the rate is accelerating. So moot point.

In Taiwan, they dealt with the outbreak without shutting down the economy,
and did so very successfully.
And they just 100 miles from mainland China.

Instead of 100% , or 97%, of their population being restricted, only 3% or less was restricted,

so the economy went on as usually, with a few safeguards or precautions ....

In the usa/ other places, instead of doing what is right, they took control of everyone's lives... restricted basically everyone...
and the very rich and so forth made billions of dollars so far doing that ....
ventolators in europe that cost $400.00 each already in production to make last year, and six months ago,
were made in the use for what - $15000.00 - each....

Yep. Sometimes the logical error is easier to spot, if you move it to something that's not an emotional issue for one.

Fortunately, where masks have been worn by most people, the rate of infections is declining. And where they haven't, the rate is accelerating. So moot point.

In some prisons, masks were given to inmates. I don't know how well they worked in prisons. I talked to a friend who had been in prison, and he said he didn't think they'd do much good. Where he works now requires masks, and he has no problem with them. If an infected customer came into his store without a mask, the odds of spreading it would be higher than with a mask. The length of time is a factor. That customer comes and goes rather quickly. In prisons, people are sharing the same space for long periods of time. Probably the biggest danger is having a prison employee getting infected and then going to work to spread it among inmates -- so some prisons require employees to have them but not the prisoners.

Another factor for releaasing some prisoners was their age or if they had other conditions that increased the risk of a severe infection. To a large degree, I think prisons were afraid of high medical expenses if those people got sick and required extensive care.

If you do, then one of us does. Is that your problem here? The pandemic is hitting minorities harder than it's hitting the rest of us. And you seem desperately eager to continue that. You should realize that even if the deaths continue, black and Hispanic people are not going to just go away. It's far too clumsy, expensive, and hackable. The Chinese, who specialize in this kind of thing, have found other technologies to work much more efficiently and a much lower cost.
