What's the connection between 'chess' 'sad'?![]()
Oh, okay, thanks, @Joseph77 for the explanation; now I understand...Long ago, as a newcomer to highschool, I totally surprised a senior classman in the chess club at high school by playing chess better than he (he was jovial about this though - we became and remained friends throughout the high school years) .
Later, in college, likewise, I played better than all but one, two, or a few, of the chess club members.
We all enjoyed playing though - there were no hard feelings, and I played mostly for fun, not for competition.
Over the years, I beat the 'computer' chess game also.... until one day... a sad, sad day... not just for me, but for many I think...
The computer became able to play better chess than a person.... I do not dwell on this nor regret it , but see it as a loss of something in humanity, and a tragic change in values in the world/ etc ....
Thus, sad.
