@Helen Thanks for your vote! No, I had not, but I have now. :)
@Renniks Whether everyone wants it is another matter. But it is what such a lot of young men do now (both ears, too, usually), whatever their beliefs might be.... really I don't think it has anything to do with ones spiritual state.
Yes, and the OP quote guy says he went back to have the other side done to even things out.Yepper, both.
@Sabertooth FYI, did you see/ vote in the poll, above?
@Sabertooth I guess I'm thinking particularly urban North America with many families from minorities and among those who have immigrated, among whom it is extremely widespread. I guess I hadn't even thought of the nuance between 'acceptable' and 'accepted'...
- Are ear piercings fully acceptable for both genders? Biblically speaking, yes.
- Are ear piercings fully accepted for both genders? It depends on the community.
All I can say is that I've never heard that...and up here such a person may be from a preacher's daughter to a venerable matron in a conservative church.PS:
Just in our small town, a woman wearing hoop earrings is thought to signify availability as a whore.
Thanks for your vote. It may be a regional thing. But for example at the small conservative local church where my wife and I have been for a while, a majority of the young men and boys would typically happen to have earrings.Voted .
@Sabertooth I'm intrigued; did anyone really say this to you?Just in our small town, a woman wearing hoop earrings is thought to signify availability as a whore.
A local counselor explained it to my wife. She knew that we weren't born in this area (so she wasn't calling my wife a whore). But among the locals, they were known as "whore hoops."@Sabertooth I'm intrigued; did anyone really say this to you?![]()
Oh.A local counselor explained it to my wife. She knew that we weren't born in this area (so she wasn't calling my wife a whore). But among the locals, they were known as "whore hoops."
She was shocked by it (but it was good to know).Oh.
And did your wife really enjoy that explanation?![]()
So did her understandable shock mean she really thought that ppl widely and sincerely believed her hoops to be indicative of this? She was shocked by it (but it was good to know).
We considered this person to be a friend, so we had no reason to presume the latter. So did her understandable shock mean she really thought that ppl widely and sincerely believed her hoops to be indicative of this?
...or did she surmise that maybe someone was trying to make cheap and snide remarks about someone from out of town?
