Everyone's perception of God is really a reflection of themselves.
We create 'our' God in our own image.
If you are a legally minded, unforgiving, and penal person then that is how you will perceive God to be.
And ditto for the opposites, and all the shades in between.
The 'Hellfire' scriptures were written during a barbaric age when offenders were regularly Crucified and crowds gathered to 'enjoy' an offender's excruciating pain and torment.
Amen 100%
By reading some people view of God, one would almost have to believe that Jesus never died, and there was no cross, no judgement 'laid upon Him'.
One would almost have to wonder why on earth He came, lived and died. As "nothing changed" from the old covenant to the new covenant
But, if that is the God that they expect to meet, ...my bible says Matt 7
2 "For in the same way you judge others, ( including God) you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
I would not wish to be in their shoes!!
