Matthew 6:26-34, difficult to understand when we have countries living in famine?

As far as what I’ve always been told ...in as you have borne the earthly image, you shall also bear the image of the heavenly...as yet off in the future after this body of dust goes into the ground and is covered with dirt. What I’m asking is that really what is being said ...or to bear the heavenly image now by laying down the earthly image and taking up resurrection power of Life in the Son. Am I understanding that correctly? As in Today?

Aah...I see. Time in this becomes a confusing obstacle:

We consider things that are "the same yesterday, today, and forever" with God, as past, present, and future. But future things are only future in the "it is written" format within the confines of the created world, which is only the telling or revelation of things. But, in proper context, that created "image" has no actual timeline, but is "written" and therefore is rather a story line.

As such, when we read that "today" is the day of salvation, that timing is true of all that pertains to God, including our "bearing the image of the heavenly." So, then, when Paul referred to "those who are alive and remain", he revealed a paradox between what is already written, but yet to be revealed to those who have not yet seen or returned to the dust in natural death of the body. He describes one walking in the flesh and also in the Spirit. Praise be to the Father and the Son, for this is our reign with Christ--to live is Christ!

I do...but that perfected spiritual body is Christ Jesus in me and I in him:

Colossians 1:27

...As for what the world sees of me or those who are in Christ, I should hope they see Christ. But I do know that we also still bear the image of our flesh which has died except for the time remaining. This is the mystery and the paradox of all "who are alive and remain."

Then you'd be skeptical of Eccl.12:5-7, and Matthew 10:28 too.

The idea of the image in Genesis 1, that God created flesh man after His Own Image, is about a likeness, appearance. Just because something is spiritual doesn't have to mean it's like some ghost idea. Those ghost or vapor ideas about the spirit are from men's doctrines of this world, not from God's Word.

Ecclesiastes 12:5-7 reveals that at death of the flesh body, our flesh goes back to the earth where it came from, and our spirit goes back to God Who gave it. You should be able to understand then that our spirit is NOT of fleshy matter, not of this earthly dimension.

In Matthew 10:28, Jesus told us to not fear those who would kill our flesh, but can't harm our soul, but fear Him Who can destroy both in the lake of fire. The soul is our Id, our person. Our personality continues after our flesh dies. Our spirit with soul does not die, and exists apart from a flesh body, that is what our Lord Jesus showed by that.

But if you want to keep to false Jewish traditions, thinking we're going to get new flesh bodies like some reincarnation idea (which a lot of the Jews believed in), then I guess you can continue to go against God's Holy Writ on the matter and believe the world. Your choice.

Was thinking about you last night. Agree with you In many ways ...but also agree with Scott A in we are told to walk in newness of spirit today and not the flesh. To mind the things of the Spirit of God and not the flesh. To set our eyes on higher (Greater)things and not earthly things. I think of when the word says men’s hearts will fail them for looking after those things which are coming upon the earth...they will be over run by fear. The only way to not drown in those things coming upon the earth and not be overcome by them is to keep our eyes set higher, on (Greater)things of the Spirit of God. On heavenly things and not earthly things. God's Salvation through His Son isn't a mystical thing. Our spirit inside these flesh bodies connected with the "silver cord" of Eccl.12 isn't a philosophical wondering either. It's real, it's just not of this earthly dimension. There's another dimension of existence, and all Christians believe it exists because that is where our Heavenly Father, His Son, and the angels dwell today. It's those who don't understand the simplicity of this that instead try to make a religion out of it. It's not about religion. It's about reality. Christianity isn't a religion, it is God's Truth, Reality. Illiterate men are the ones who create religion and try to appear holy.

So why is it so many brethren have a difficult time understanding that one day in the future, either at flesh death, or at Christ's coming, we also will be in that heavenly dimension, but while on earth (Rev.5:10).

Yet they ate and drank material food and drink of the earth. How is that, since they didn't have flesh bodies? It's because the spiritual body is able to live upon this earth. It just isn't of the same dimension of earthly matter. It's a body of Spirit.

I think I am looking at this to deeply? This must be a general truth, not an absolute truth? In some countries like Africa and even here in America, vegetation, animals, humans are not always provided for. I know when I was in Haiti a couple of years ago, I saw starving children and without clothes. Africa the same. In some places vegetation and animals do not survive because of the harsh environment. So this is just a generalized statement correct? Not true everywhere perhaps because of sin maybe??? Humans mistreatment of the Earth?? Thanks for any insight.

Make your spiritual life your first priority and God will add to you those things necessary for your earthly/physical life. This message is for believers, not unbelievers.
