I like to highlight in the style of contrasts of the Semitic writing style. The first time I did that verse 20 became clear it was of the dark side. Before that I wasn't sure what John was saying. Many should do this to chapter one because the whole church seems to believe Christians are sinners and not children of God.
1 John 1:5-10; 2:1-
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.....
12 I write to you, little children,
Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.....
20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth....
Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.....
Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. 6 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. ....
18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. 20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows ....
24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.
