well, while your individual perspectives are surely valid, the Q of "how many women under the cross" and even "at the tomb" has not been addressed yet, and imo what we are doing now is individually representing those "different" perspectives in Scripture. Iow one may perceive Mary as Madonna (holy) and another as Jesus' human dna, while there is a third possibility occluded from us--if we are ignorant of how His contemporaries would hear "virgin" anyway, which may be debatable--that being the virgin (Athena, iow) will be with child

Iv'e always believed that there were three, the two Mary's and Salome. ( Or was it Joanna I forget) I remember checking it out when I was a 'young thing'. And found it to be three of them.

I do understand what you are saying here...that those verses really show that Jesus WAS GOD. But, I also understood what @Pearl meant. There is the Father Son And Holy Spirit involved in those verses, IMHO. ♥

He just wont be put in any 'box' of what Christian's "expect" people to do and be. He does have a unique ministry here.
And, what I say means nothing really...but if you trust Amadeus spiritual judgement at all , well he thinks very highly of our friend ( @bbyrd009) Mark.

His ministry is as a 'Challenger', to help us to "think" or rethink ,and not just expect to follow blindly the teachings of men.

Hopefully you will soon see past how he comes across, and see his heart.
He has a big one I can attest to that.

Think of Naomi in the book of Ruth. She was ( via marriage) the how many great's in the linage of King David whom Jesus descended from.
Naomi had lost her husband and two sons...and took Ruth daughter in law..to (finally) meet Boaz and hence the blood-line of Jesus.

Naomi's name means bitter.
And did not Simeon in Luke 2 prophesy to Mary in the temple about Jesus ....and the prophesy ended with the words... " Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed...."

Mary had to watch the fruit of her body crucified horribly and could not ease His pain.

I watched my daughter give birth to our grandson...and I had to stand in the corner behind the doctor...powerless to help. I can't imagine Mary's heart pain.

Just a thought ....."in balance". lol

Hmmm...Good points Helen. I suppose all of these "definitions" of the name Mary, or Miriam, or Maria...could be the characteristics of the three Marys in scripture?
I would think that the definition "wished for child" was the mother of Jesus...possibly the bitterness and rebelliousness can be accredited to the other Mary's?
Yet, I see your point as, I think if I were Mary (Mother of Jesus) watching how her son suffered so, how could she not have some bitterness towards those who tortured and killed Him. But, rebelliousness? Hmm...could that have been Mary Magdeline (sp?) before Christ?
