Midsummer down there, of course...

Still a danger, and some fires still burning. So far 40,000 hectares burnt, 9 homes, and lots of outer building including a winery, but amid it all are complaints that the fire guys "didn't do enough to protect property"...Here's a couple of pics which puts that particular complaint into some perspective....

Yes. Just 20 minutes from where we live in the south east. No danger to us though cos we're in suburbia...but smoke clearly visible from home. Bunyip State park, and many of the small towns evacuated between the main fire and Melbourne proper.

We do have quite a few friends there...but, the thought of a 15 hour flight puts me off. If it could be done first class...or in one of those sleeping pods ..I would do it...but my pension pennies wont go that far
