Whats so really really wrong with what the catholic church teaches really..?
all I know is that they have been all around the word evangelising...giving their knowledge and love to the poor..
Mary praying? so what?
What’s wrong is that the Catholic Church teaches many things that
directly contradict the Bible. It’s not about how charitable or active they are around the world, it's about truth. The Bible warns about false doctrine, no matter how religious or helpful someone appears (2 Corinthians 11:13–15). Evangelizing is only good if it’s the true gospel being preached. A false gospel leads people away from salvation, not toward it (Galatians 1:6–9).
Here are just a few key teachings of the Catholic Church that are not found in Scripture:
Praying to Mary and the saints – The Bible clearly teaches that we are to pray to God alone, through Jesus Christ, our only Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). No verse ever instructs us to ask the dead to intercede for us.
The Pope as the Vicar of Christ – Nowhere in the Bible is any man given that title or authority. Christ alone is the head of the Church (Colossians 1:18), and Peter never claimed supremacy over the other apostles.
Purgatory – The idea that souls go to a place of purification before heaven is not in the Bible. Scripture teaches that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord for those who are saved (2 Corinthians 5:8), and that judgment follows death (Hebrews 9:27).
The Eucharist as a literal re-sacrifice of Christ – Hebrews 10:10–14 says Christ was offered once for all, and His sacrifice is not repeated. The Mass contradicts that by claiming it is a continual offering.
Salvation through
faith plus works – The Bible is clear that salvation is by grace through faith, not of works (Ephesians 2:8–9). Good works follow salvation, but they do not contribute to it.
Both calling a priest “
father” and confessing sins to a priest are practices that
directly contradict what the Bible teaches. Jesus made it clear in Matthew 23:9 when He said, “
And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.”
He wasn’t talking about biological fathers,
but about spiritual titles. He was
warning against exalting religious leaders and giving them authority that belongs only to God. When people call priests “father” in a spiritual sense,
they are violating a direct command from Christ.
Confessing sins to a priest is also unbiblical.
The Catholic Church teaches that forgiveness must come through a priest, but the Bible says otherwise. First John 1:9 tells us, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
It doesn’t say to confess to a man, it says to confess to God. Forgiveness comes from Him alone. First Timothy 2:5 makes it even clearer: “For there is one God, and
there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” No man has the authority to stand between you and God. When Jesus forgave sins, He was proving that He is God. For any man today to claim that same power is a dangerous deception.
These practices are not harmless traditions, they lead people to trust in men rather than in God. The Bible never gives priests the role of mediator or spiritual father. Only God is our Father, and only Christ is our Mediator.
Anything that adds to or replaces the truth of the gospel is false, no matter how religious it may appear.
