Greetings Pearl,
I just read this on my MSN news feed. "Could I become a Christian in a year?" What would be your answer?
The following Samaritans became Christians on the day, but they may have had some preparation by previous encounters, and they had Philip who would have preached a powerful message and with a proper conviction and the strength of the pure Gospel. They also had the witness of miracles, possibly healing of a few.

Acts 8:5-6,12: 5Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. 6And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

We find that most of our converts need to attend instruction at our public seminars for quite some time and then private instruction, especially if they have a background some of the normal wrong Protestant doctrines concerning God and immortal souls.

Kind regards
Trevor

One moment and in the twinkling of an eye, you can become a Christian, and angels will rejoice with you. It is always instantaneous. The Grace drawing you in might take a little while, but still instantaneous.

My thoughts exactly.

Absolutely. That's what I thought.

Now a person not giving their life and heart but trying to live the lifestyle and fit in with the other Christians?

That can take a minute or two. A year might not be enough.

Wolves in sheep's clothing take a while to create.

That might be true of people wanting to join a particular denomination but for folk who just want Jesus in their lives it's as simple as just asking.

This is still true for some Churches established behind the "Iron Curtain " in the former Soviet Union. (Slovakia) They lived in constant fear and evangelism was an extremely scary proposition. (But commanded by God)
To this day they require years of attendance and service before someone is accepted into their congregations. Intensive classes are required before given a baptism.

In CCP churches in China....before you can be a pastor in a church you need seminary coursework of course....but you also need to be arrested, tried, convicted, and especially incarcerated THREE TIMES before any church will accept you as a pastor.

Things are definitely different around the world.

However,
If you are in trouble in any country....find a bakery. They are always a secret place for Christian men to meet for breakfast.

Yes I can understand that necessity for certainty in areas like that but that is only about becoming a member of a particular church. It only takes minutes for an individual to become a Christian - a follower of Jesus - once they have realised their need to be reconciled with God. And than some of those may, as you say, need to be vetted before joining a church.

This the article you read ? Good article .
Thank you. That gives some context for the question. The author visited multiple churches and retreats over a year's time and ... something changed. The remarkable thing about it isn't the time it took; it was the path she took to get there.
