JohnDB, you can express all the sadness you want, but unless you are willing to support your views with actual scriptural references, no one should pay very much attention to what you think.
I have explained quite clearly using scriptures and more....scripture primarily as well as anthropology, Topography, meteriology, and history.
Scriptures were written in a very compact manner leaving out these things because (in this instance) they were considered to be "obvious information" 2,000 years ago and a waste of paper and ink. Today they are not obvious facts but are necessary components to fully understand the scriptures.
For example today most people cannot point to the abortionist in scriptures. Or point on an unlabeled map of Jerusalem the valley of Hinnom or anything much. They might get lucky and point to the Tenple mount....
Or that David's cutting of Saul's robe describes a very distinct oasis in the Judean wilderness at En Ghedi. It's still there today.
Nope....they can't do that either. And as you have demonstrated they read extra things into scriptures or skip over valuable information that scriptures provide.
It's God's Word to us so that we may know Him....as people go, we ain't doing well. (Never really have)
What exactly, precisely was said?
The Author was extremely, overly efficient in what was written but wanted to convey a particular concept to people of his day and time....what was it?
