If your partner, family, friends etc, don't often talk about Jesus, and the things of God...they're not real Christians!
Do not be deceived.

I’m a Jewish monotheist, a primitive Christian; not a Nicene Christian. I invite you to talk to me, and with me, about Jesus and the things of God.

Well I am, after all, the devil. (According to some of the members here.)

***

I appreciate your comment and, despite what I wrote above in this post, take it seriously. It’s not something new in my experience. One of the problems I’m confronted with is how best to handle it.*

My formal education and training in theology is both a blessing and a handicap. One way I’ve tried to overcome the downside is by contributing heavily to the happy threads. Another way is speaking about a non-intimidating subject which is important to me - reading; particularly, and foremost, promoting reading the Bible. There are other ways but this will give you and others some insight into why I post as I do.

I don’t want anyone to feel intimidated by me; many still will, though.

* My primary purpose for even being on this forum was to find a little respite from the stress of my work with neglected, abused, and at risk children. I’ve found that here, but as a (detested, by some) spiritual foreigner. That has its own level of stress. So far, the balance has nevertheless tilted in a favorable direction for me. It’s only when the troublemakers venture into the forums I’m voluntarily restricted to - which they seldom do - when the balance becomes unhealthy.

Do not be deceived.

I frequently pray and ask God and / or the Messiah not to allow me to deceive anyone and to clearly show me if there is something, anything, that I’ve been deceived about.

I take everything that is said to me, and even things that are said about me, and search the scriptures to see if it is so. If and when I find that it is so, I embrace it. If I find that I need to repent, I do.

I’m not the Bible Answer Man, but I’m grounded in the constraints of history and in the scriptures.

Do not be deceived.

From my X / Twitter “For you“ feed this afternoon -

“ … ‘even Barnabas was led astray.’ Galatians 2:13
Remember to pray for your spiritual heroes in the faith.

No one is above being deceived by the tempter’s craftiness.

Let us all remain watchful.

We are almost Home, but Satan isn’t letting up.”

(Pastor Garrett Kell)

Offered in support of your OP.

The pastor is Baptist, so I don’t think he is encouraging us to pray for Barnabas or any of the other saints who have died. He is almost certainly talking about praying for someone living - probably a leader, but perhaps not - who you consider to be a spiritual hero. It could be a pastor, a deacon, a teacher, a parent or grandparent, etc.

Do you have someone in your life whom you consider to be a spiritual hero that you could pray for?

Do not be deceived.
Jesus said it's those who put his word's into practice. Being a Christian is something you do it's not something you just talk about:

Mathew 7 (24-27)
24“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

1 Corinthians 4 (20-21)
20For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 21What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit?

Amen. And I will add to your collections...with James 1;23

Why are you not nicean? Do you prefer chalcedon, or athanasius?

I had two. They retired
