With their governments push favoring Islam over their native culture, might account for a poorer outcome in the future?.

We all see what happens in those Islamic Shia countries in the middle east, radical jihadist attitudes, religious fervors don't make for productive economic growth, it is worse than communism was and very divisively destructive, definitely not the ways of peace. Such Islam is a militant religion that demands subservience (actual slavery and bondage being satanic) to ideologies not in line with western cultures with a Christian base.

Thank for your question and surmise. So: how much can the UK’s slower growth be attributable to this religion? Let’s rephrase the question to ask it of Muslim countries in general, as a search for root causes.

A search for “Why Are Muslim Countries Poor” will yield as many “expert” answers as the age-old question, “What caused the fall of the Roman Empire.” The video below is one answer to the former (spoiler alert: fanatic anti-semitism).

My opinion: anti-semitism is just one way politicians and others shift the blame away from their own failures. Governments that refuse to acknowledge the problems they cause can never improve, nor can their economies.

In the UK it would appear (with apologies to our astute UK colleagues) that anti-semitism is just one of many blame-shifting strategies.

Do we observe similar problems in the U.S.? Well, Duh!

As always, Jesus nailed the solution (of course!): in the Lord’s Prayer we say, “Forgive us our trespasses (or sins/debts) . . .” In other words Jesus is telling us to take personal responsibility for our failings, to make amends, and to ask forgiveness. Do not shift the blame! Would that all leaders of the world took this principle (and prayer) to heart.

Blessings.

(By the way, I love debating the causes of ”The Fall of the Roman Empire.” Any takers?)

The Fall of Rome was to do with Poofters running the creep show and it just filtered down from their. as we see with the UK it became a poofter run show, controled by poofters !

I am a Australian and I remember back in the 1980's pommys saying that they got out of the UK before they made poofterism compulsory ! We would Laugh at such as that, thinking that such was a joke in fact ! but we know that It's True now !

If they are not total homosexuals they are queer and sick people over all. and that is why they have no Virtue, they are like mongrel dogs or a Mutt ! so all values become trashed by them because they are of Sodom Satanic in fact Lost total fools and a abomination.

In breeding as well created such idiots !

But what do we get back for telling the truth ! some nut case going of in a Malice war like attackes on all who call them out. Bible exposes all such as well.
No society has ever progressed forward with such creeps at the helm. they are and do like in the reverse of the Saints.

If a society is a working against God they will always fail in fact !

Yes. However, let's not call it a debate. Let's call it a discussion. I believe Edward Gibbon multi-volume answer listed a number of causes. Please start a separate thread and invite me to it. sml

I noticed the article you cite did not credit/blame Islam. Makes sense because the globalist EU embraced Muslim people as the cure. Talk about going from the frying pan and into the fire!

Thanks for the clarification.

As I recall, Gibbon cast most of the blame on Christianity! How about a thread title “Was Christianity the Primary Cause of the Fall of the Roman Empire?”

OK—if it were to be a debate, the title would need to be something like, “Resolved: Christianity did (did not?) caused the Roman Empire to Tank.”

I credit the British archeologist Sir Barry Cunliffe with the best explanation (spoiler: it was definitely not Christianity).

Blessings.

One of the best books ever written is Oswald Spengler’s Decline of the West. He differentiates culture from civilization. Culture is the spirit of the age. When the spirit dies, the husk that remains is civilization and when people stop DOING and ACTING on the spirit of the age and start writing about it and the laws and customs remain.

His brilliant insight is shown in explaining how symbols change meaning from culture to civilization. A good example is the cross, originally a symbol of torture and oppression.

From this analysis, he concludes the ‘Golden Age of Greece’ is a misnomer; that when Socrates, Plato and Aristotle started writing it down, the culture was already in dying.

Getting back to Christianity’s role in the fall of the Roman Empire, the culture had eroded by the 4th century as Hadrian’s Wall represented the shift from growth to maintenance. The spiritual void was filled with Christian culture.

Thanks for the reference. Might take a while to read through it!

But you (and he) are right about Rome’s culture, except that for the decline it only needed to be the ruling class to be morally bankrupt. Recall the Apostle Paul noting (Romans 2: 14,15) that the common people behaved as if the Law was written on their hearts.

Peace.
