Dear bdavidc,Your teaching contains several serious doctrinal errors when examined in light of Scripture. While it uses biblical language and verses, the underlying message departs from sound biblical truth on key points related to salvation, the work of the Holy Spirit, and assurance.
The most concerning false teaching you have here is the claim that believers who have trusted in Christ, received the Spirit, and been justified can still be unconverted, spiritually blind, and ultimately apostate unless they later receive a second, separate outpouring of the “Latter Rain.” Scripture teaches the opposite. According to the New Testament, the moment a person genuinely believes in Christ, they are born again, justified, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit (John 3:3–8; Romans 5:1; Ephesians 1:13–14). There is no biblical basis for dividing the work of the Spirit into "Early Rain" and "Latter Rain" in a way that makes initial salvation incomplete or insufficient. Romans 8:9 clearly states that “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him,” implying that every true believer has the Spirit from the moment of conversion.
Additionally, the assertion that “no babe” in Christ since the first century has avoided apostasy is entirely contrary to Scripture. It denies the preserving grace of God and contradicts passages like Philippians 1:6, which says, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ,” and Jude 24, which affirms that God is able “to keep you from stumbling.” While spiritual growth is necessary, and believers are called to persevere, true believers are not abandoned to inevitable apostasy. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice... I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:27–28).
The teaching also distorts Matthew 24:15 by applying it inwardly to an individual’s spiritual condition, rather than interpreting it as Jesus intended—in its eschatological and prophetic context. The same misuse happens with other verses, like those from Hosea and Psalms, where poetic or prophetic imagery is lifted out of context to build a framework not supported by the New Testament gospel.
In short, this teaching undermines the sufficiency of Christ’s finished work and the completeness of the new birth. It shifts the foundation of salvation away from faith in Christ alone and introduces a hidden “second blessing” necessary for final conversion, which is not taught anywhere in Scripture. This is a false teaching and should be rejected in light of the clear gospel presented throughout the New Testament.
Don’t bother trying to sell me this false teaching. I can read the Bible for myself, and what you’re pushing isn’t in it. It’s false teaching, plain and simple. Stop posting this nonsense on my thread.
A babe is justified by faith but they will not remain faithful.
You said that when a person "genuinely believes in Christ, they are born again, justified, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit".
Scripture teaches that when a person genuinely believes in Christ, it is because Christ gave them the Early Rain of the Spirit beforehand. At that point, they are justified and have a small measure of the Spirit within them. It is not the baptism of the Spirit. In this weak spiritual condition , it is easy for Satan to deceive them and cause them to follow him instead of the true Christ. When they do this, they have become unfaithful and are no longer justified. For that reason, Christ will "come again" to His Elect and restore their faith with the Latter Rain of the Spirit. This is when Christ brings salvation:
Heb 9:28 So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who (Elect babes) are waiting for him.
When Christ comes to a person the first time and gives them the Early Rain, He appears to them "in the flesh" because they remain spiritually blind and carnally minded. They can understand "Christ and Him crucified" (1Cor 2:2) but little else. When He returns to them after a time of waiting, He will bring the baptism of the Spirit and the baptism of Fire:
Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Latter Rain), and with Fire (Day of the Lord/judgment).
These two baptisms will convert the Elect babe who has been waiting on the Lord to return.
John said that apostate believers will deny that Christ ever appeared in the flesh to them. This happens because the Early Rain of the Spirit is concealed from them.
2John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Hos 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he (Christ) shall come unto us as the Rain, as the Latter (spiritually appear) and Early Rain (appear in the flesh) unto the earth.
Since you only believe in the baptism of the Spirit (Latter Rain), what do you believe the Early Rain represents? Does it not apply to you? Do you believe that you have never experience it?
