I like Spurgeon's quote. I guess it depends on how one see's what is said. 'Habitually' does not mean putting the scripture into a strait jacket of ritual whereas 'reading plan' sounds regimented and undeviating.“The want of habitual reading of Holy Scripture by professedly Christian people is very much to be regretted.” - C.H. Have no regrets in this regard. Habitually read the Bible.

Religion loves 'reading plans', loves regimentation, loves control, loves rules, loves that carnal certainty. It loves it because it doesn't/ can't see the world of faith, of trust and security.
I find comfort in Jesus words, 'why worry, look at the birds of the air and the lilies of the field...' It gives me a 'ride easy in the saddle' angle....but ride.
God is present, closer than our breath. Being on-goingly conscious of it shifts everything.
They fail to read it because either they are unmotivated; its exponents don't inspire them or thinking is too much of an ask.Reading plans have advantages and disadvantages.

If someone finds that disadvantages outweigh the advantages then they won’t use one.
The purpose of this thread is to encourage people to regularly read the Bible. Statistically, Christians fail to do so.
