Visiting the “Rest of the World”

As Christians we are called to witness in the world, without becoming part of the world.

Jesus and his Apostles are the original heroes: willing to challenge the world to be better, despite the awful consequences.

So, what is it like to visit an on-line social commentary forum, like X, a market place of some good but a lot of awful people.

One needs a strong stomach to stay long: there is a constant stream of biting, ad hominem attacks, outright lies, jousting for prestige, etc. The number of people in politics who try gentle persuasion seems to be small.

Can the gospel be preached without being “stoned” to death?

Anyone with experience on how to spread love and peace to people who behave like animals?

One does not set out to evangelise on social media.
Rather if involved in social media one seeks relationships with people.e who are interested in talking about Christianity and talk to them either in a private chat room or via email etc.

A better way is to be actively supporting missionaries in different parts of the world.

Do you receive and use a missionaries prayer letter?
Are you contributing to the support of a missionary?
Do you write/email to a missionary, remember birthdays, wedding anniversaries, Easter and zChristmas?

Does your church encourage these activities, does it welcome visitors from abroad?

I wonder this myself. I support a couple who are missionaries. I have been supporting them for 6 years and I they have not experienced one person being one to Christ Jesus. So is going to another non-Christian country and living among them really doing anything?

I think we are to witness and preach to all we meet wherever we are. Speaking to the delivery person, clerk at the store, the person standing in line with you, the neighbor, the coworker, the waiter,

We don't save people, we point to Jesus. Only God knows if they will surrender and be adopted into His Kingdom.

Surely these missionaries would have gone elsewhere if God thought they should be elsewhere. We find it difficult to understand why God has assigned us particular lives with particular tasks.

Part of the problem is that although God will help us understand WHAT we should do, He seldom tells anyone HOW they should accomplish His plan.

I support my friends because I believe they are being obedient to The Lord God and even though I may not ever see the outcome, I trust God sent them for a reason.

God has spoken to me to be single and teach Bible study and that is what I do. at times I have had a range of 2 to 25 people at a time.

YHVH is good and His will will prevail.

Over the past 28-29 years I have been a regulator visitor to Nepal. I have helped to build churches; I have clothed the poor and given them blankets and mattresses to use to sleep. I have helped widows in the first few months of their grief. I have preached; I have baptised Nepalis; I have funded self-help programs. I have been friends with the Nepali people, but what I have been careful of is how I have blessed them. Often, just my presence among them in Nepal is sufficient. Simply rubbing shoulders with them and sharing with them and encouraging them is all that I need to do.

I have to remember that it is God who draws people to Himself, and that I am just one small cog, so to speak, that helps to turn people around such that they come to only worship Him.

Late last year I was in Nepal with my wife, and we helped two slum areas that had been flooded within Kathmandu with goods that would be useful for them with the approaching winter months.

There are dangers that we needed to face, but not with fear, but with rejoicing as we encouraged them within our finical means and prayed for them.

My boldness in Nepal must also be visible in my Home Church. A few dollars in Nepal goes a long way in providing for the needs of the people but in Australia, those same few dollars might buy a cup of coffee for someone in need. In Nepal $1,000 AUD will help over 120 people whereas those same dollars here at home falls short of the needs of the down and outs. Here at home, we are supporting a Foodlink outreach run by our church with cash, to enable them to buy meat to give, very few people know about it as we do so anonymously. Our support allows other to become a blessing to the community that we live in.

The best place to start being a "missionary" is at home within your own church. We will reach the people that need our help without having to go overseas to do so.
