[Gal 6:15-16 KJV] 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace [be] on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
Who is the Israel of God?
Those in Christ who are a new creature are the body of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17 1 Corinthians 12:27).
In Galatians above there are two groups; the body of Christ and the Israel of God.
It is those in the body of Christ that would walk (live) according to the rule of the new creature.
We learn that neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avail in Paul's writing to the body of Christ ( 1 Corinthians 7:19 Galatians 5:6 Colossians 3:11).
Therefore, we can say that it is the body of Christ who were bestowed with peace and mercy in Galatians 6:16.
Paul bestowed peace and mercy to the Israel of God as well. If the Israel of God is the church today, the body of Christ, as say some, then the blessings are the same and are redundant. Therefore the Israel of God can not be the body of Christ.
Who then is the Israel of God? It is called Israel so it must be Israel.
Which Israel is it?
Not all Israel is Israel (Romans 9:6). There is unbelieving Israel and believing Israel The Israel of God is the believing remnant of Israel (Isiah 1:9 Jeremiah 23:3 31:7 Revelation 12:17 Luke 12:32).
Circumcision will avail, nonetheless.
[Eze 37:26 KJV] 26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.
[Isa 54:10 KJV] 10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
God has an everlasting covenant of peace to Israel.
