the key thing that stuck out to me was He is always trying to jump on her .
DONT sound spayed my friend . Rover is roving and his mind is on the continuation of the species . He probably is not .
At first that was the case and she would be all over that, and pin him to the ground. But its not that so much now its that he tackles her, jumps on her head and does this side bump thing against her to throw her a couple of feet, its weird, even my neighbor is like, what the heck is that? He uses his side to move her away from him, I think anticipating she might go after him. Hard to describe, a little strange.

Now I have a Berkey for emergency use but I never took it out of its box. I have that set aside for a time we might be without a well and drinking water from a water catchment of some sort, like from our rooftop.

We have nothing on our well water, no c l orination system, no reverse osmosis and no filtertration system and we have been drinking it straight from the ground with nothing filtering it for over 20 years. A local well water guy in his 90's says all that is bs, and he has never done any of that and has lived as long as he has with no problems. Regardless of whether he just old school and out of touch with the dangers (and all of that). I just felt I should listen to him because we couldnt afford a filtration system this salesmen was trying to sell us, and I thought, well, I am just going to do "natural" and thats about as natural as it gets. So far so good, hasnt done us any harm and we are still alive.
I prefer well water, myself. But my main concern is contaminants like "accidental" spills and runoffs from farmers who don't use organic practices, etc. The environment is way more toxic now than it ever has been. It doesn't hurt to test and make sure.

Sorry ...but now I see how selfish cats are as compared to dogs. Cats only have one use ... mouser.
Surprisingly, all the cats we've had have been super-affectionate. We took them in after years of them fending for themselves outdoors. Maybe it's transactional - or maybe they recognize that they've been shown grace. If only we humans would do the same...

We live in an area which is clay and rock for the most part, its not prime farm land, which is also why we have raised beds garden, and so it was tested as far back as that time when it was drilled right after our first well went dry, its sort of standard. And we have a rock well not a sand well, nor is it a shallow well, its nearly 700 feet deep. So farming and run off wouldnt seem to be problematic. After 20 years of drinking from it as a freebird, I think its safe to say its not going to kill you or make you sick as it is now.

It's not that she wasn't shown grace. lol She is spoiled ROTTEN and not taught manners ...like not putting her behind in your face, sitting in dirty underwear, or scratching up the furniture, curtains, toilet paper, paper towels ...getting in and on the cabinets, counters, tables ....grace is her first, middle, and last name. lol She's spoiled and cannot be enjoyed but by one person .... except the furniture is ruined, and the laundry bill is quadrupled. I think she would have been a great cat if not for being allowed to be unruly.

I'm not saying cats aren't affectionate. She is that ....but it's a selfish affection. Cats will kill you or break your leg on your way to put food in their bowls. Just saying ... no don't like cats. They can live comfortably outside ...in a warm spot, a blanket, shielded from wind, cold, and rain ....but not in my house.

BUT... I may conduct an experiment on one kitten. I want to raise up a kitten in the way it should go. lol It will be loved, petted, well fed with real food, talked to, taught manners, given boundaries (no scratching furniture or curtains, etc ..no defecating in the house, jumping on counters or tables, etc). I've had cats all my life and never had a problem teaching them not to jump on tables and counters, or learning their names and the word "no." I have not had inside cats since my children were little. (They were actually outside cats that were allowed inside at times.)

Cats just aren't my thing ...used to be a cat person, not anymore. I'm a dog person now that I see how much more personable dogs are. Don't get me wrong ...my dogs are given rules and only my littlest one is an inside dog. But he is not given full, free reign to mess up furniture or defecate in the house. He is well behaved and very intelligent. He gets walked throughout the day and we toss toys for him, gets held and bathed .... cuddles ...but he has rules.

I spent so long rereading the first paragraph trying to figure out why and how the cat wears dirty underwear.

very very odd indeed sister . whomever took her she must have trusted them .
@amigo de christo Many years ago, I had a long black cat named Salem or Don Diego de la Vega. We couldn't decide so it was both.

He would run away to hunt for a couple of weeks, but come back eventually. I will pray your Bella comes back.

He is a believing brother so I really do not want to report him or anything, I mean he is older and someone apparently did not want these puppies that were dropped off, so he took one in (he does take dogs in) so he has a well intentioned heart and soft spot, but I think because he is older he cannot keep up with them. And we are rural so dogs just hang out on the land and typically dont cause this sort of problem. I mean who could anticipate this?

I recall one of my own dogs killed my neighbors turkey (around 25 acres away from us). That was on us to make good, and he was understanding, and at that time we had like 7 dogs, and called that invisible fence place and trained each one of them to be afraid of those white flags or ZAP!! And that worked well. Whereas he bought the one at one of the box stores and his dogs would run through it and even though you can keep your dogs in you cant keep others dogs out. I wish there was a simpler solution.

So... what I was thinking of (as far as a solution) is to protect the front of the house with invisible fence wiring but ask him to make his dog wear that zap collar.

Not sure if that will make it sound as if I dont want his dog ever to come over again (because I really don't want to keep him from visiting) just not as often. He is just young (and no not fixed yet, because of his age and having something to do with his bone developement) but mine is (so no worries there).

I am just home all day, they are out working, so he is confined to a cage all day, then when he gets set loose he gets the zoomies (and we all know what that looks like) clfh

I'm tryin to wait patience for when his fix comes in, hoping that is not too far off and that we can discipline him on our end (but thats not working out so well). Its not like they are poodles they are pitbull mixes.

My neighbor did call me last night to see if my dog was okay because his had a bloody ear, but ours was fine, and it was not her, because when my husband pulled in the drive he comes running down the driveway and our dog was at his side and they played well (with no incidents between them) supervised. So I do not know where that come from.
Hopefully after he's neutered, he won't be coming around as much to your house!

I used to be a dog person but got my first cat in 1989. After my dog died, I had several wonderful cats through the years...very sweet. I adopted them as strays from my street. One of them I adopted when his elderly owner died.

They are great company and since I live in an apartment, much easier for me than walking a dog alot.

I found a nice, large, ripe tomato in my garden, so I am eating a tomato sandwich before going off to bed.
I now fancy a tomato sandwich, with salt - will have to buy some when I go shopping today ( ran out of tomatoes yesterday )
My twin brother and his wife are heading to your shores in two weeks time, they can’t wait. They are then taking a cruise from NZ to Australia. The time difference is going to throw them !

Quoting you and posting in this thread for the first time.

And watching people on this forum disagree and argue with each other and getting bored of each other.
