I tend to think that the power to buy and sell...to choose that thus honouring government mandates rather than be homeless and jobless, being that to provide for oneself as opposed to full dependence upon God, is going to be used as incentive to compel people to submit to papal control. The power to buy and sell is therefore a reward for obedience to a church/ state mandated command convening worship. Just as the papacy did during its heyday in the dark ages, using the royal crowns of Europe as weapons to control the population under Catholic domination.
Revelation 13 and 14 is all about worshipping according to government laws. Laws that reflect the wishes of the Antichrist, thus the term, Mark of the antichrist. It is a mark that you recognise, whether a choice of conscience (the forehead) or from a sense of necessity in order to survive(the hamd) matters not. Either way the union of church and state as revealed for the last days wins your allegiance.
How to avoid receiving the mark of the beast? Receive the seal of God. Leave no room in your mind and heart for another form of allegiance.
