Im interested in hearing how Christian members came to pick up there cross, and follow Jesus. Is the holy Spirit a factor ??
I became Born Of The Spirit, = a spirit child of God...all Born Again will follow the Lord, as their spirit is Born Again, I belong to God, no other, the moment I was regenerated...of course I’ve come to understand this by my teacher / helper the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is Alive and Active, very much so in the lives of His spirit children.

Dear Stream,

Here is the verse:

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Before I explain the verse above, it is helpful to understand how Christ teaches the truth of the New Covenant.

The New Covenant is a spiritual covenant and because it is, Christ's New Covenant teachings must be applied "within" yourself. This is in contrast to the teachings of the Old Covenant. The Old Covenant is a physical covenant and its teachings apply "outside" a person.

Christ teaches the truth of the New Covenant using "spirit" words (John 6:63). It is these spirit words that form the basis of His "another language" (Isa 28:9-12). I call this language His spiritual language. Christ teaches His truth using His spiritual language in analogies, types, parables and prophecies. Christ also teaches the truth of the New Covenant "here a little and there a little". This necessitates that His teachings be assembled and fitted together so that the full truth of a matter can be understood.

With this said, here is what Christ's message is teaching in Mat 16:24.

Christ uses an analogy to teach its message. Its message explains a portion of the pathway to salvation a person must travel to be converted.

This is the message: After Christ comes to an unbeliever and gives them the Early Rain of the Spirit, they will symbolically pick up their cross and begin following Him. This represents the time when a person makes a confession of faith and enters the church. This is the beginning point of the pathway to salvation/conversion.

After a time of travelling the pathway to salvation, salvation will finally come to the believer when Christ "comes again" to them. When Christ comes, He will pour out the Latter Rain of the Spirit, followed by judgment (Day of the Lord/Baptism of Fire). This is the conversion event and is when a person is saved.

The judgment portion of the conversion event is symbolized by being crucified with Christ on the cross. The person who dies is the Old Man/Man of Sin/child of the Devil.

Paul uses this same analogy in the verses below:

Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

After the death of the Old Man, all that will remain is the new child of God. This is when a person is converted and saved.

If a person doesn't understand the pathway to salvation, they are not going to be able to understand Christ's message in Mat 16:24.

The Holy Spirit prompted me to look at this thread (even though I wasn't interested) and now I know why: it was about Him!

I have never thought of the "start of my faith" as being connected to the Holy Spirit - that is fascinating (I don't doubt He was there, now that I think about it!)!

I think I have a renewed taste for the Holy Spirit now!

I fell in love with someone from afar other than my then partner who I was not in love with nor had ever been in love with. I felt guilty like it was my fault. The devil was cunning for a long time to lead me to believe I was a bad person bc I did not love my partner.

I did not blame anyone but myself, which is bizarre, because they were not my feelings I did not create them... bc if I did I would have chosen to feel love for my partner.

So Yes the Spirit of God was active at the time, in revealing how I was not to blame causing me to feel comforted.

Because the word of Jesus Christ is correct and authoritative, when I understand this I am willing to follow it and pick it up, Even if people don't understand what I'm doing, I'm more than happy to do it.

Jesus saved me. Literally. Not like the cliche. Through repentance I was granted revelation and supernatural deliverance. There was one sin I couldn't get under control and seeked the lords help. He responded for real. Supernaturaly. Since then, Ive been shown the truth. How does one not pick up his cross after that? It's a struggle though. It's so much more than that. It never stops. Ive been currently stuck at my last directive for about 30 days.

I have already given my testimony many times....what do you mean, that I sound like a “ real one”?

All I do is what I believe I am called to do....Glorify the power of the Living Spirit Of God/ Christ....who permanently indwells my spirit...when = Spirit gives birth to spirit.....

By the way, welcome to the forum, Ron....I hope you enjoy your stay and tell us more , how the Living Spirit ministers to you..in Jesus Name...Amen.

Edit to add....God brought me too, to repentance....also no one can come to the Father accept through the Son......the Spirit cannot indwell the spirit of a sinner....that’s why our sins must be forgiven by the Living God.

My testimony/ belief.

Yes, I understand “ supernaturally “ that’s how my spirit was birthed into his.

We have the Living testimony of the Spirit residing in our heart/ spirit......He is the one who testifies Of God’s truth to our heart/ spirit......and he never stops growing and maturing us...and yes, it can be a struggle at times, when we are Born Again.....as we are led by the Living Spirit....as we belong to God in spirit....it’s a very hard road that we walk....but the road we are on is the road to life in Christ.

Not that worldly road that used to lead us to death and destruction, when we were alienated from the Living Spirit Of God.....Praise God and give him all the Glory...
