Why would god have just put dinosaurs on earth ? So there was just random dinosaurs roaming the earth for thousands of years and then a meteor hit earth and they all went extinct?? What was the point in that? I want to believe that god is real but, there’s so many things that doesn’t make sense to me
I am sorry that you have to ask these questions but if you have some background in the church system, you will have been taught all sorts of ridiculous things.
Let’s start with the the creative “days”......Young Earth Creationism is nonsense.......nothing in the Bible says that they were literally 24 hour periods. The Hebrew word for “day” (
yôm) can mean a period of time of undetermined length in much the same way that we use the term....”in my grandfather’s day” isn’t speaking about a 24 hour day, but an era. So the Bible divided the creative periods into “days” or eras where God planned his creative activities in increments....logical increments. Each day had a beginning and an end, with God stating his satisfaction with his work thus far.
For God’s people, a day began at sundown and ended at sundown the following day, yet the Genesis days began at sundown and ended in the morning. That is not a 24 hour day.
In its opening statement, Genesis 1:1 simply states ....
”In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”.....it doesn’t state how much time elapsed between that cataclysmic event (called the Big Bang by scientists, tongue in cheek) and the preparation of the earth for habitation.....but they know that the universe had a sudden beginning. The power needed to bring about that event staggers our limited imagination and sends scientists down a lot of rabbit holes trying to explain it “scientifically”.....but for Christians, we don’t need ‘pseudo science’ to explain anything.....theories abound and you can pick whatever scientists tickle your fancy......in much the same as you can pick your Bible scholars.....you can accept what these scientists say as speculation, or you can delve into actual proven science and see what comes up. Having defended the Bible many times against the assertions of evolutionists, I found that like Bible interpretation, so much is based on speculation, assumption, inference and plain old guesswork. It actually takes more faith to believe in the scientific theories than it does the Bible, not written from a scientific point of view because it would have been lost on its audience. Don’t mistake simplicity for error or fantasy.
How does this relate to dinosaurs? What if the creative “days” were hundreds of thousands or even millions and of earth years long? Take a careful look at what God accomplished on each successive day and see his pattern of creativity. Everything in one day prepared for the activity of the following creative period.
Not until the 5th “day” was life created in the oceans first, and the flying creatures as well.
At the beginning of the 6th day, land animals were created in vast array. If the dinosaurs were created early in that period, and the Bible tells us that green vegetation was created on the 3rd “day”, imagine the overgrowth by the time creatures were brought forth to consume it......the Bible tells us that all creatures were vegetarians at the beginning (Gen 1:30) So if the dinosaurs were vegetarians (as we human were originally designed to be) then the size of them and the amount of vegetation consumed would have been very large indeed.
The picture of flesh eating dinosaurs is a figment of evolutionists imagination. No one was there to see any of it, but God was....he is an eye witness, along with the angels who were intensely interested in material creation. He wrote about it in sequence, and in simple language.
Neither science nor the Bible has a single mention of dinosaurs and humans existing at the same time period. So if the dinosaurs were used for a specific purpose, and that purpose was fulfilled, wouldn’t it make sense for them to become extinct before the smaller land animals were here to be trodden under their enormous feet like insects? If they were created for a time and a reason, wouldn’t that make sense?
Why would God speak of extinct creatures to his human children when they were not part of their era?
We have proof of their existence, but it is pure speculation as to how long ago they actually walked the planet.
Radio carbon dating is not terribly accurate because of variations in the levels of carbon in the atmosphere over time. Even the flood of Noah’s day would have altered the levels of carbon in the atmosphere.
The most serious fault in radiocarbon-dating theory is in the assumption that the level of carbon 14 in the atmosphere has always been the same as it is now. That level depends, in the first instance, on the rate at which it is produced by cosmic rays. Cosmic rays vary greatly in intensity at times, being largely affected by changes in the earth’s magnetic field. Magnetic storms on the sun sometimes increase the cosmic rays a thousandfold for a few hours. The earth’s magnetic field has been both stronger and weaker in past millenniums. And since the explosion of nuclear bombs, the worldwide level of carbon 14 has increased substantially.
On the other hand, the proportion is affected by the quantity of stable carbon in the air. Great volcanic eruptions add measurably to the stable carbon-dioxide reservoir, thus diluting the radiocarbon. In the past century, man’s burning of fossil fuels, especially coal and oil, at an unprecedented rate has permanently increased the quantity of atmospheric carbon dioxide....so it’s not all as clear cut as science would have us believe.
God gives us the truth...and though in simple form, we can believe it. He was there....he constructed the universe out of materials that he brought into existence. He is the source of infinite energy and the precision with which he prepared the earth as a home for living creatures is nothing short of miraculous.
He put us humans here to take care of all that he made.....he designed us with his attributes so that we would care for his works as he would do so himself. This is why we were put here on planet earth in the first place. God would give us an unending life in a beautiful paradise, in exchange for taking care of our home and its creatures.
Not a bad deal if you ask me....
