Though a handful is probably already aware of some of them I have a few favorite hobbies. By hobbies I am presuming it’s being used ambiguously enough to include interests and pastimes.

Most of my hobbies are outdoorsy stuff. I am big into studying more about my natural environments local to me. I really enjoy studying ecosystems. My first and biggest passion is botany. I enjoy studying plants more than anything in the natural world. I’m currently working on finding the 20 species of native oaks in my area and being able to key them out. After the oaks I am thinking to dive into the hollies. There are 10 shrubs in the Ilex genus where I live. After that, I want to dive into learning to key out and find the hawthorns which has 11 species and subspecies in their genus, Crataegus.

For forbs im looking for the various species of carnivorous plants beginning with Sarracenia (pitcher plants ), Drosera (sundews) and Utricularia (bladderworts).

Outside of plants I also enjoy mycology and looking for mushrooms. My favorite two types of mushrooms are the amanitas and wax caps.

For animals I enjoy snakes, spiders and caterpillars. Though I have a growing affection for frogs and Toads and want to learn more about amphibians in general.

So most of this involves hiking or kayaking (aquatic plants ) which I also do as a last item for exercise. Which is something else I enjoy. I enjoy lifting weights and biking. I use to enjoy running but got burned out in the army on the alpha running team. I was in the top 50 out of roughly 1200 soldiers. I use to run 6-8 miles everyday averaging 6 minute miles. Now I only run 2-3 miles every other day. Though I do backwards running in 1/8th mile sections. I’m slowly moving towards just dumbbell workouts. Took me a while to get to where I was holding 120lbs dumbbells in each hand and squating and should shrugs in sets of 10 reps.

I enjoy building water gardens. I still do them on the side for money and for fun. In a few years I’ll do it more on the business side with just a part time landscape design business and 15 years I’ll probably move into that full time on my own. Maybe earlier. My current employer has some
Pretty nice mostly stress free pros to working there. Pretty soon I’ll get back into making more road houses, bird houses and so on.

Outside of that kind of stuff a pastime is watching horror movies with my cats. I like all horror. Especially 80s gory slashers, 50s-60s sci fi horror and modern sfx and practical effects driven body horror films.

Look at my avatar and you can see what my hobby includes. I reload my own ammo to shoot in my guns. I cast my own lead boolits out of wheel weights too. I have some guns that have never fired a factory made round!

The best thing about reloading your own ammo is you get to shoot more for the same money. I spend just as much as people who dont reload and have to buy ammo because I buy components in bulk. But it's far less per shot so I get to shoot more. I used to be able to load a box of 50 44 magnums for $4 dollars! A box of 50 45's was $3 !! I havent figured it out lately since all new wonderful price hikes came with covid.

I do a couple other hobbies too. I play chess and I like going hunting for mushrooms during season. Camping things like that.

That's not a hobby, that's an affliction! Lol. I dont like Horror. I've only ever watched one all the way through and that was the one with Jaime Lee Curtis in it, and she did a scream that became legendary! I thought it was sort of a comedy. Horror flick my eye, lol.

She’s in a few but it’s most likely Michael Meyers the Halloween slasher series .

I’ve just watched MEGAN.
It’s a nice film. The new Chucky film is similar. As AI and automation for typically more human occupations grow so will the horror films centered around it.

One of my favorite horror movies is a nc17 ( not family friendly ) body horror movie called Thanatomorphose. Nc17 is similar to rated R except they tend to be adult oriented for gore and other things. It’s a story with a minimalist plot and the narrative is predominantly pushed forward by the make up artists skills at practical effects and sfx. It’s from 2012. In a nutshell it’s a story of a woman who gets an std from her abusive bf that causes her to start to decompose while alive. Not a feel good film. I also like films like Red Krokodile(nc17), Excess Flesh(nc17), Tusk and on the less extreme side of horror the stuff that’s more mainstream I like Lisa Frankenstein, Alien and Prometheus ( which is one if my favorites also ) and Raised by Wolves the tv series.

On the less extreme side of horror I like

If you don’t like them personally or find them appropriate then you should definitely not watch them personally I agree. As for me, I watch them all guilt free.

Well, maybe ask the LORD if it is beneficial for you.

My hobby is watching Leftist heads explode every day at Trumps greatness.

In addition, with 18 grandkids, I like to watch them grow. Travel, read, pickleball are all passionate hobbies.

Played pickle yesterday and plan again on Saturday and Sunday. I’m reading several books now: Aunt Phyllis’s Cabin, Demolishing Supposed Bible Contradictions and Why Men Hate Going to Church, besides Daily Devotional reading.

Planning on going to Jacksonville, FL next month and Michigan this month.
