My grand daughter keeps fish and knows quite a bit about them, what did you need to know. I can ask her tomorrow for you x
They have started to breed, I bought males and females, not thinking that my tank , would be a perfect breeding ground, I honestly didn’t think they would breed, I know, I’m silly..what the heck am I going to do with all these baby fish..?
I never knew that they give birth to live fry..I should have done so much more research..
Can you ask her how she cleans her gravel please, Rita..plus does she clean the filter using the Aquarian water, that’s what I’ve been doing..there is so much muck at the bottom of tank, how does she get rid of all that muck please?

I've had freshwater aquariums for all of my life....the last one being 40 gallons.
Guppies will breed every 30 days. You should only have so many inches of fish per gallon of water so they can breathe. Do you have some air supply/bubbles going into the aquarium? How many gallons is your aquarium?
If you have a big enough aquarium and air bubbles, you can buy a couple of Angel Fish. They will eat some of the new born Guppies. But you might need to give Guppies away as they breed so fast!!! For Angel Fish you should have at least a 20 gallon aquarium.
What kind of filter do you have? Outside filter which hangs on back of aquarium? Or a plastic filter sitting inside the aquarium? There are also under gravel filters which don't need servicing.
You can wash the filters under tap water.... that's what I did all of my life. And adding a little tap water to top your aquarium is also fine.
About the muck....first, do not overfeed. Or you will get an algae problem.
To clean the muck: Buy a siphon hose at the aquarium store. You use the large end of it to vacuum up the muck into a bucket. The aquarium must be higher than the bucket for the siphon tube to work.
Another thing bad about Guppies is after awhile they can get deformed due to too much inter-breeding. If you have a small aquarium, I would recommend getting one male Siamese Fighting Fish instead...they are really gorgeous! But only one male to an aquarium or they will fight!

@Ritajanice Here are some male Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta Fish).
If your aquarium is smaller, they are ideal fish to keep. One male only to a tank.
Since I had a large 40 gallon aquarium, I also was able to keep Angel Fish, Swordtails and more with one male Siamese Fighting Fish.

No idea how many gallons, I will go back to Aquarian shop, where I bought it from and ask.
Yes, I have a bubble air stone.
I couldn’t bear that, I’m going to advertise them on FB, free .
I’m also going to check with my supplier, if he will take them from me.
It’s inside the Aquarian, I’m going to buy a better one, any suggestions?

Yes, I remove 25% of water, when changing the dirty water, then top it up with tap water , then add some boiling water to take the chill off, I also put recommended conditioner, etc, into the fresh water, that replaces the dirty water..every time I change it.

Here is a picture, that baby fish is at least 2 months old....I can’t believe how tiny they are, when first born, like the size of a pin, mum and dad try to eat the fry, when first born, the fry are so smart and so quick, they also hide in the vegetation.

Can you also ask her, if she has freshwater fish..or sea water fish...they fascinate me, the beautiful Living coral is beyond belief...all of God’s creation,x

I read that guppies are very social...I see that, I must have at least 40 fry already.LOL.

I had an outside filter which hangs on the back of the aquarium. It takes filter pads and you clean the outside filter by taking it to the sink. And you change the filter pads, too.
You can clean the filter every four to six weeks. Your filter should keep the water looking clear, clean.
Larger tanks are easier to keep clean. I only used to siphon about two or three inches of water out when cleaning the gravel.
Some people use under gravel filters...but you must install those when first setting up the aquarium.
Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta) are freshwater fish. If your tank is big enough and planted, you could keep one female, too. But not if it's a smaller tank....the male might get too aggressive with her. Also, females are plain....the males are fancy.
Living Corals are for saltwater aquariums only. Saltwater fish are much more expensive than freshwater fish.
Remember your Guppy babies will also start to breed....it will be almost impossible to keep up with them. Could your aquarium store take them back?
You could instead get Angel Fish or Gouramis. Swordtails are pretty....they bear live young but they are not prolific.
Cardinal Tetras are like neon lights and school. This tank also has one Siamese Fighting Fish and Angel Fish.

We had an aquarium in our first townhouse. It was the only pets the Association bylaws allowed us have. We had a blue Betta and three fish called "iridescent sharks" because they looked like Jaws (one our youngest son's favorite movies) with glittery stripes. Very pretty. Unfortunately, trying to keep the pH in the tank balanced turned out to be an insurmountable task. The fish ended up in a watery grave, and the tank and stand ended up out front with a "free to a good home" sign.
Short commentary.
Bettas are considered one of the most aggressive freshwaterfish. It is not recommended to keep male betta fish together in the same tank.

Get some Oscars and angelfish to put in the tank....they will eat the guppies. No more problems from guppy breeding. Pinch of food every once in a while....all is good.
Guppies are "feeder fish" to begin with. People buy them in bags of 20 to feed other large tropical fish in their aquariums all the time. Oscars tend to get big....so do other varieties. These larger fish don't want the flaked food after a while and prefer the live fish to eat. Usually they get past the stage of just biting off the heads quickly. (Their favorite part).

I successfully had freshwater aquariums all of my life. Just gave it up recently due to my age, if I have to move.
I never tested the water. I just kept the tank clean and would siphon any debris from the bottom as needed. My fish did fine.
Yes, I told you only one male Betta to an aquarium.
A male Betta can live in a community tank with peaceful fish. As long as the tank is large and planted. That way the Betta doesn't feel threatened. I had a male Betta in my community tank all of the time....when one would die, I got another one.
When you buy fish, make sure they are called community fish....that means they are peaceful. But a Betta can live with them in a large, planted tank...no problem.
How big is your aquarium? Do not overcrowd the fish.
