Laban wanted to capture or even ensnare Jacob as Jacob's flocks were so much greater, the Lord having blessed Jacob, so Laban was jealous.
And Laban thought it wrong for the younger daughter to marry first. So he wanted Jacob to have them both as this he thought would tie Jacob more firmly to his household, and Jacob's flocks would be Laban's too. Besides, Laban knew Leah's eyes were weak, meaning she was less desirable to men, so getting her married off quick was a good thing.
There is also that feast and Jacob would have drunk wine, and not thought Laban would do such a thing. Where was Rachel all this time??
It was her wedding feast.
No doubt Jacob was attractive to both daughters.
This tells us Rachel was beautiful and Jacob was attracted to her, while Leah was more of the ugly duckling.
However God blessed Leah and she bore many sons to Jacob.
Genesis 29:17
Leah’s eyes were delicate, but Rachel was beautiful of form and appearance.
